Chapter 59: Vessel Awakening, Second Phase

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Vessel Awakening, Second Phase

Cat POV

Cat was the first to meet the envoy and punched out. The air exploded as her fist cut through it like lighting, just as it was about to hit the envoy, it body flickered and disappeared.

Then it appeared to her right with a giant white bone sword cutting towards her. It was too fast, she knew she couldn’t dodge it and just as the sword was about to reach her Ndu appeared and blocked it.

She had seen him use this ability before, it allowed him to teleport to whoever he was trying to protect as long they were within his line of sight but it only worked when he had to protect someone.

When the fist hit his shield the collision generated a giant shockwave that ripped the ground apart creating a crater over 10 metres wide.

Ndu only took two steps back, this was a testament to his ridiculous physical strength. She passed between his legs and with his current gigantic body she didn’t even need to bend her body.

She intended to catch it off guard but how could something so powerful be so easily fooled, she delivered an uppercut straight to it chin.

Before the fist landed sharp bone spikes grew on it chin lile a beard but she did not stop nor retract her fist.

When the fist met the bone spikes there was a sound of metal colliding and sparks flew, it head tilted back, she retreated and before it could react, Haruko stabbed it, his sword glowing like a ray of light.

The temperature around it was so high the ground started melting. The sword landed like a ray of light and the air exploded sending a wave of burning air in all directions.

If a weaker human was here their lungs would’ve been turned to charcoal by the hot air but fortunately only superhuman monsters were around.

Haruko’s attack only pushed the monstrous envoy a few metres back. The light around his sword dimmed, he had staked everything in that attack and it accomplished nothing.

And it took too much of his energy, his stance was unstable as if he was going to fall any second, Cat knew in that state he would not be able to protect himself.

She had to save him, just as she was about to run towards him a silver blue ray descended from the sky like a spear.

It was Siri’s bird, it long beak was pointed straight at the envoy and the energy around it was so high it made the air shake.

The envoy swung it sword and clashed with the bird beak, an explosion of energy followed and the envoy was sent flying, it armour cracked and blood leaked from the wound.

For the first time it took actual demage but neither Siri nor the bird got out unscathed, Siri coughed a mouthful of blood and her bird’s skin cracked.

It wings started falling off one by one and it seemed to be aging much faster than normal, she could tell it won’t be able to live for much longer.

The envoys white armour started healing. She attacked before it fully healed, her body became a golden streak as she flew towards it.

Her fist cut through the air like lightning but it was not enough, in the old world her fist alone would’ve been like a missile, she would’ve been a natural disaster.

A few thousand years ago she might have even been worshipped as a local god, yet that same fist was blocked by a single hand effortlessly.

Then the giant bone sword descended upon her, it was too fast, it became nothing but a white blur as it cut through the air, she could barely follow it movements.

The distance was too close, Ndu would not be able to help block it this time so she moved her wine gourd infront of her to block.

Her body flew back light lightning for hundreds of metres, she hit the ground like a meteor creating a giant crater but she suffered no demage.

This was the power of the golden drunks gold wine, it didn’t have the firepower or speed of the winter red wine or the restrictive and internal demage ability of the summer blue wine but it had the best defence of the three.

It was at this moment that she realised the difference between ranks, both her vessel and the envoy were at the legendary grade, infact her vessel was at the peak of legendary, a little short of reaching mythical grade and the envoy was a low legendary grade but she couldn’t do anything to it.

Even Naledi who was two grades above it struggled, fortunately she didn’t need to defeat this thing but merely hold it back so she wasn’t under too much pressure.

However being barely able to react to it attacks was a serious problem. Ndu was doing his best to hold it back from reaching Naledi, obviously it could see she was doing something and was trying to stop her.

He was struggling but he was not alone, demaged as it was Siri’s bird was still fighting but Haruko was out of commission.

The only thing that gave her hope was Aira, her vessel was also a legendary grade and it was very powerful, it sealing abilities and barriers were hard to break.

Even the envoy couldn’t break it in a single attack. The picture of an axe lit up on Ndu’s shield, a gold one handed giant axe appeared on his right hand and he swung it at the envoys head.

Cat knew he couldn’t last much longer either, his arms were shaking and he was running out of energy. The bird delivered one last attack and died, Siri almost fainted from the backlash.

But her mother healed her. She opened her gourd and poured alcohol into her mouth, this was a normal looking white wine and it ability was making her dead drunk.

This was a dangerous ability but she had no choise, her mind couldn’t keep up with it speed. After drinking the wine her eyes became clouded, she burped and ran towards the envoy in unsteady steps.

It turned around and swung it sword at her, she was barely even aware of what’s happening but her body moved on it own.

She moved like she lost her step and the sword passed above her head barely missing her. The envoy punched at her head and she stumbled and almost fell forward but that caused the fist to miss.

The air exploded from it punch and destroyed the ground behind her for hundreds of metres, their dance continued for dozens of seconds leaving destruction around them.

And nomatter how much it attacked it couldn’t land a single hit on her, she stumbled back and almost fell on her butt when soft hands caught her.

Then she heard a beautiful voice echo in her ears. " Thank you for holding on, you can rest now and leave everything to me." She fell on her back and fell asleep.

The last thing she heard was "Vessel Awakening Second Phase."
