Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Crystal Core Effect
’ Ahhhhhh.’ Ved screamed as his body was being pulled apart, on one side was the turtle trying to pull him back and on the other was the envoy beyond the rift.
Blood leaked between his scales on his arm, the busted blood veins bled even more under the strain his arm was under.
Powerful and gigantic as the turtle was it was actually losing, slowly his body was being pulled towards the space rift and his mind told him if that happened he will most certainly die but the image did not materialized which meant there was a chance of survival.
He overworked his mind trying think of a solution but only one came to mind, he gritted his teeth, he saw no other choise. With a loud roar he sunk his teeth into his right arm and bit it off, the arm was already wounded and being pulled so biting it off was not as hard as he had expected.
The bone whip pulled it through the closing space rift, he was just about to sigh with relief when the bone whip came flying out at him again.
He panicked but before it could reach him the space rift closed and the whip was cut into two, the part of it remaining on their side fell to ground.
It wriggled for while like a worm then stopped moving. Without the space rift pulling his body he couldn’t remain mid air and fell to the ground, a few moments passed and the adrenaline wore off.
Then the pain hit all at once, his body felt like it was drenched in molten lava, he gritted his teeth and tears fell down his eyes, he didn’t even know dragons could cry.
The stump of his right arm stopped bleeding before long, with the vitality of his body his wounds healed really fast but the pain did not stop.
A gentle green light washed over him and the pain subsided, the stump closed, even with his vitality and the deer’s healing ability he couldn’t regenerate the arm.
After a while everybody left but not before paying respect to each other, he can see the respect they had for him, he was the weakest of them yet he fought just as bravely.
Ho even told White to find him when she grows strong enough for a sparring match, White was so excited she wanted to fight him right then and there.
Ved had to interfere and stop her. When everybody had left Ved looked around the battlefield, it was littered with corpses, of both beast and vermin.
Most were demonic beasts which made sense considering how numerous they were. An enticing scent suddenly assaulted his nose.
He looked down at the greyish crystal next to him and without a second thought gobbled it up. It tasted delicious, like candy. He heard a system notification but before he could check it he felt his body heat up.
Steam came out of his nose and ears, his blood boiled. It was painful but he was happy, beneath the pain he could feel his body being strengthened.
The effect were not drastic, his strength probably increased by about 1 percent but it was still amazing because that increase in strength was permanent.
And he can still grow stronger by accumulating evolution points which will add to it. He smiled in his mind then suddenly Goldi appeared next to him.
’ Boy what did you do?’ ’ Why? did you want it?’ he looked confused. ’ want it? Can you not feel how dangerous that thing is?’ Ved sniffed the crystals.
’ No. Old man are you going senile?’ ’ Who are you calling senile you brat? I’m a very young man not even two thousand years old yet’
Goldi grew heated then calmed down. ’ Anyways, as I was saying, this thing is giving me a dangerous aura, I’m certain consuming it would kill me yet you appear to be fine.
Combined with you not having any world essence energy inside you. Your strangeness only seems to grow.’ He looked at him like he was a strange creature. Ved looked at White and the hippo whose name he learnt is Pulse.
Which admittedly is a very uncreative name but who was he to judge. They both nodded agreeing with old man Goldi. Ved grew even more confused.
He was certain nothing was wrong with him but since he couldn’t explain it he chose to forget about it for now.
’ Well they seem to be beneficial to me so please help me gather them.’ He asked White who led the other rabbits to collect the crystals and placed them together forming a small mountain.
Then he turned his attention back to the battlefield, the others had left without cleaning it which made sense, no matter how intelligent they were at their core they’re still beasts.
The concept of burying their dead did not exist to them, only the crows gathered the corpses of their companions before leaving.
He then told White and the other rabbits to help him burry them, while they did not understand the reason they still did it, they trusted White and she trusted him.
Seeing this Goldi and Pulse chose to help as well, it took them an entire day but eventually they buried every beast, for a moment he thought about eating them for evolution points.
But his conscience wouldn’t allow him, they fought bravely to stop the invaders and the thought of desecrating their bodies for his benefits did not sit right with him.
Plus there were spiritual beasts amongst them and he didn’t feel comfortable with the thought of eating something with intelligence. Ofcourse he doesn’t know what he would do if he was in urgent need for evolution points.
Then he turned his attention to the vermin corpses. He ate a few of them and they were hard, crunchy and tasted disgusting. The worst part was they did not even give him any points.
He frowned and abondened them then he turned to the crystal cores and started feasting. Notification after notification came but he ignored them.
He would check them later after he was done eating. While eating the cores he realised something.
The white cores had a weaker effect on him, infact only rank 3 white crystal cores had any effect at all. The grey ones does have an effect even at rank 2 but rank 1 did not.
It was the black ones that surprised him. While there were no rank 3 black ones there were around 6 rank 2 and over a dozen rank 1 plus the two rank 4 ones.
Their effect seemed to be better than others, even at rank 1 they still worked and were almost as effective as the rank 2 grey ones or rank 3 white ones.
Since each colour represent a grade then that means those only single grade lower than him only works at the same rank as him, probably at higher rank as well but not lower.
Those of the same grade can work at a single rank below him, anything lower is nolonger effective and those a grade higher than him can even work two ranks below him and their effect seem to be higher at the same rank than the others. Also the more he ate them the less effective they became which was a problem.
The only ones left were the two rank 4 black ones which was equal to a rank 4 heaven grade, an entire rank and grade above him, he grew excited just thinking about their effect.
Then he bit into one and swallowed.
