Chapter 453 Two Full Moon Feasts
Ye Shenge had been so worn out by little Youyou these past few days that she had learned to feed her son while half asleep. It was past two in the morning, and when her son cried, Zi Yisheng was able to pick him up and check on him immediately.
He changed the diaper and tested whether the baby needed to feed by placing his finger near his son’s mouth. The little mouth opened as it touched his finger.
Zi Yisheng placed their son beside his wife, gently unbuttoned her top, and helped their son latch on.
Ye Shenge, still groggy, managed to pat her son a few times. Zi Yisheng watched from the side, his eyes burning with desire, wanting to pat his son twice but not daring to.
His son had a possessive nature, needing to cover one nipple with his hand while feeding from the other. Despite his annoyance, he had to burp his son after he was full, place him back in his small crib, and then he could finally hold his wife again, stealing a few kisses to satisfy himself.
Fortunately, the elders at home helped during the day, allowing the new parents to get more sleep.
Time passed quickly, and Ye Shenge finally reached the day she was allowed to leave her confinement. Even during her confinement period, Ye Shenge bathed in the space almost every two to three days, and was caught by her husband many times. Fortunately, there were no discomforts, so he let her be.
Today was little Youyou’s full moon. Early in the morning, Ye’s mother and Grandma Bai and other women started fussing over little Youyou, as the mother needed a good wash and the baby needed a nice bath.
It was winter, and Ye’s mother, afraid of the baby catching a chill, boiled water by the stove to increase the temperature while bathing the child.
“Little Youyou has grown so much this past month.”
“Youyou, look, the water splashed on your face, scaring our little Youyou.”
On this side, it was bustling with activity, while Ye Shenge was admiring herself in the space, doing a full-body skincare. Looking at her fully recovered figure, Ye Shenge felt that giving birth wasn’t so terrible.
Zi Yisheng waited in the room for his wife to suddenly appear. He was now used to his wife disappearing. He stayed in the room to provide cover, in case someone suddenly knocked on the door.
However, Zi Yisheng wasn’t idle; he changed the bedsheets and the baby’s crib sheets to clean ones. In his wife’s words, today was the day she emerged, and everything had to be brand new.
For today’s full moon banquet, since it wasn't held at Bai Rong’s brigade home, many people couldn't come. Therefore, Zi Yisheng asked Han Hao to prepare some special dishes at the private kitchen and send them home, which served as a simple full moon celebration for the child. They would definitely have another celebration when they returned to Bai Rong’s brigade.
Little Youyou was truly well-behaved. After his bath and a change into new clothes, he started crying because he wanted to feed and sleep. Hearing his son cry, Zi Yisheng called out to his wife from the bed.
Ye Shenge had just finished tidying herself up. Hearing her name, she appeared from the space wearing a bathrobe, falling directly into her husband’s arms.
“Finally willing to come out.”
Zi Yisheng was embraced by her, a fragrant embrace, and he refused to let go, unwilling to release his wife. Who knew how much he had been holding back these past few months, like a fire-breathing dragon.
Ye Shenge was kissed until she was breathless. Her face, already flushed from the bath, was now as red as blood.
“Stop it, the baby is crying.”
“It’s okay for a boy to cry for a bit.”
“Tonight, wait until tonight.”
“You promise!”
“I promise, I promise!”
Zi Yisheng reluctantly let go of his wife, his face full of unsatisfied longing, and helped her put on the new clothes he had prepared, one by one.
Ye Shenge wore a pure white knitted button-up dress, a khaki coat, and small ankle boots. Her long hair was braided into a fishtail braid, and she applied colorless lip balm to her lips, completing her look.
Zi Yisheng looked his wife up and down, as if childbirth had made her even more dazzling.
“So beautiful!”
“Naturally!”
Ye Shenge was never modest about her appearance.
The two quickly went downstairs. Little Youyou seemed to know his mother had arrived, his eyes filled with tears, turning his head towards his mother. In an instant, he opened his mouth and cried loudly.
“Oh my, quickly feed our little Youyou.”
“Exactly, what are you dawdling for?”
With her status at an all-time low, Ye Shenge had no choice but to obediently take her beloved son and go to the first-floor bedroom to serve as a food reserve.
Zi Yisheng also followed them into the room, gently pinching his chubby son’s cheek, leaving a faint fingerprint.
“You made your mother get scolded, this is your punishment.”
Little Youyou didn't cry, but he frowned and possessively protected his mobile food reserve again.
“Husband, see? My status is in jeopardy.”
“Heh, it’s okay, I’ll protect your status. If he’s disobedient, I’ll just send him away.”
Ye Shenge glared at her husband, knowing he would say something like this.
“Are we going back to Bai Rong’s brigade today?”
“Yes, everyone at home is waiting for another celebration tonight. They’re probably preparing the dishes now.”
“Alright, then have Han Hao send the food over early.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll start serving at eleven sharp.”
Ye Shenge’s milk supply was exceptionally good; little Youyou couldn’t possibly consume it all. Every time, Ye Shenge had to return to the space to pump out some. She was grateful to her mother for stocking up so thoroughly, otherwise she would have suffered.
Little Youyou slept through his full moon banquet, and he also slept through being adorned with gold bracelets and a gold collar, worn only for this day as a symbol of joy.
These were brought by Grandma Bai when she came. In her opinion, it was already a great hardship for her great-grandson. If they were in Mingcheng, there would absolutely be a full house of guests to celebrate.
Han Hao now only accepted two tables of guests per day. Today, for little Youyou, he didn’t even open for business. The villa had only eight adults and one infant, so one table was enough.
At precisely eleven o’clock, Ah Hong and a few others arrived with many food boxes, even including Ye Shenge’s most beloved Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.
“Come, come, today is a joyous occasion. Seeing the fourth generation is the best gift for this old man. I’ll have the first toast.”
“Alright, everyone raise your glasses, and welcome our little Youyou to our family!”
Zi Yisheng, as the father, was completely overshadowed by the elders. No one paid attention to Ye Shenge either. The couple exchanged glances and quietly focused on eating!
Lunch ended quickly. The group, in two cars, had little Youyou snatched away by Ye’s mother and Grandma Bai. Ye Shenge, sitting in the passenger seat, was completely idle.
Ye Shenge looked at the people on the street, the passing scenery. A month had made her feel extremely confined.
Zi Yisheng held his wife’s hand while driving. Their affection made Ye’s mother and Grandma Bai in the back smile and watch them.
“When the child is a bit older, I’ll take you out for a trip.”
Ye Shenge turned to look at her son, who was sleeping soundly in her grandmother’s arms. She had seen mothers in her previous life taking their children out on outings and gatherings; as long as the mother wanted to, there was nothing that could stop them.
“Will I have to carry the child to work?”
“Heh, as if no one at home will help you with the child. No one is stopping you. Leave the child at home and go wherever you want.”
Ye Shenge smiled proudly when she heard her mother say this. She hated it most when elders said things like, “You can’t do this or that because of the child.”
It was a good thing she didn’t have a mother-in-law, otherwise Ye Shenge might have felt rebellious.
The car drove slowly all the way. They changed the baby’s diaper twice and fed him once before arriving at Bai Rong’s brigade. It was already past six in the evening.
Before the car even entered the village, the family was waiting at the entrance. Seeing the car drive in, everyone in the family was eager to surround the car.
Ye’s mother also enjoyed the overwhelming reception, and a group of people surrounded her and welcomed her into the house. Ye Shenge, on the other hand, only had her husband to help her out of the car; no one paid any attention to them.
“Let’s go, I’ll be with you.”
“I was originally thinking of having a daughter in a few years, but now who would dare to have one? If I have a daughter, no one will pay attention to me anymore.”
Zi Yisheng’s mind immediately conjured an image of a daughter who looked like his wife, his eyes lighting up for a moment. But seeing the crowd walking ahead, he quickly regained his composure. There were too many people competing for attention; if they really had a daughter, he would be driven crazy.
“Then let’s not have any more. One child is enough. More children are just more trouble!”
“Mm, no more.”
The full moon banquet also invited the old village chief, the brigade leader, and the brigade secretary, along with their families.
Min Xing, who had been missing, also returned two days ago. Previously, there was a problem with the medicinal herbs he had procured; someone had passed off inferior goods as superior, affecting Min Xing’s reputation in the industry. When he left, he didn’t forget to take Xiao Tiantian and Mo Lin with him, saying that going out more would be good for Xiao Tiantian’s condition.
Ye Shenge was nearing her due date at the time, so she let Min Xing’s “fallacy” pass.
“The little one is quite chubby. I’m truly envious.”
Min Xing put his arm around Zi Yisheng’s neck, his face full of envy and jealousy.
“If you’re envious, go get married. With Young Master Min’s capabilities, having seventy or eighty children wouldn’t be a problem.”
Min Xing feigned looking up at the sky, as if he had seen through the vanity of the world.
“Heaven is blind, it’s jealous of talent and just won’t give me a wife.”
Min Xing’s antics made the little Tiantian beside him stare at him with bright eyes. Such a scene not only made Mo Lin jealous but even Ye Shenge felt a pang of envy. Clearly, they were the ones closest to Xiao Tiantian.
“Is that right, Xiao Tiantian? Do you want an aunt?”
“Tsk, I wish you find a wife who beats you every day.”
Mo Lin never missed an opportunity to argue with Min Xing, but Min Xing reveled in it. Seeing Mo Lin angry made him happy.
The Shang family was represented by the Second Master Shang’s wife. All the men in the family were out, so she had to come. Normally, Zhao Jing was very low-key, never speaking to anyone except when she went to work. The villagers considered her a strange person.
Today, Zhao Jing also left after placing her gift and looking at the child. However, she was very grateful to the Ye family and Zi Yisheng in her heart. She just didn’t know about the men’s plans, and she was afraid that every move she made would affect their plans, so she could only support them in her own way.
“Do you still have meat and dried seafood at home?”
Ye’s mother quietly asked Zhao Jing. She actually felt very sorry for Zhao Jing, as the Shang family men were too focused on power, and the women of the Shang family had very little say.
Ye’s mother didn’t know if the Shang men had made arrangements for Zhao Jing’s life before they left. She could only discreetly send someone to deliver some grain and smoked meat.
Zhao Jing had aged a lot but had a good mindset.
“There’s still quite a bit. You know, I can’t eat much by myself. And I have money and coupons, so you don’t need to worry about me.”
