Chapter 647 The Four-Year Term Ends, All Return
Dao Qin shook her head earnestly, her eyes equally firm. She had no future; the child was her life.
"As long as it's good for the child, I can do anything."
"Good, let's reintroduce ourselves. My name is Bai Chenxi, Mu Mu's father."
"My name is Dao Qin, Mu Mu's mother."
Dao Qin looked at the outstretched hand, pursed her lips, and extended her own. The clasp of their hands was a kind of promise.
"Although I've done many foolish things before, I will strive to be a good father and husband from now on."
"I will also work hard. There's just so much I need to learn."
"Let's work hard together."
Bai Er Furen felt like kneeling to thank heaven upon hearing that Mu Mu's mother was willing to stay. Finally, one of her children had a mother. She hurried back to her room to fetch the betrothal gifts she had long prepared for her daughter-in-law, and then a large batch of gifts was pressed into Dao Qin's arms.
"Take them. Even if you don't want them, you can keep them for Mu Mu."
"Then please keep them for me. I need to go be with Mu Mu."
Bai Chenxi realized that the only way to interact more with Dao Qin was through Mu Mu. He could only pack the gifts and follow, his good looks proving useless for the first time.
Within three days, Dao Qin's family was found. Her father was a teacher at a middle school in the county, her mother a housewife, and she had an elder brother who was already married. Their family relationships were simple. However, due to the long search and the emotional and physical toll, both her parents' health and spirits were in a poor state.
Dao Qin, knowing she would soon hear her parents' voices, nervously held Mu Mu and stayed by the phone. Mu Mu had grown very attached to her new mother during these few days. Even if Meng Wanwan had never mistreated Mu Mu, she could never compare to her biological mother. Children are sensitive and can sense who is good to them most keenly.
"Mom, who are Grandpa and Grandma?"
"They are Mom's mom and dad."
"Do I have two more relatives? That's so many! I had to remember for so long before."
Mu Mu popped the last piece of chocolate into her mouth and reached out. Her father quickly took out a handkerchief and wiped her clean.
The phone finally rang. Bai Chenxi answered it first, thanked the people who had found them, and then handed the phone to Dao Qin.
"Hello, is this Qin Qin?"
"Mom, it's me, I miss you so much!"
......
The mother cried, the person on the phone cried, and Mu Mu cried along. Bai Chenxi found himself wiping tears and snot for them, feeling utterly overwhelmed. But seeing his mother standing in the distance, glaring, he could only endure with endless patience, simultaneously feeling his lowly status.
The call finally ended, and both Dao Qin and Mu Mu had swollen, red eyes.
"Thank you, I'm truly grateful."
"No need for pleasantries. I've already booked plane tickets; you'll be able to see them soon."
"Can Mu Mu come with us?"
"Yes, but I was thinking, shouldn't we get married first? This way, we can conceal your past experiences and give Mu Mu the status of a legitimate child."
Dao Qin quickly nodded in agreement. On the phone, she had only mentioned being sold abroad by traffickers and that Bai Chenxi had rescued her and they had married and had a child, and that she had been injured and lost her memory, thus unable to contact her family earlier.
"Okay, we absolutely cannot let Mu Mu suffer any more hardship."
Bai Chenxi breathed a sigh of relief, while Bai Er Furen was so happy she almost wanted to personally escort them to the marriage registry.
It seemed that with that piece of paper, Bai Chenxi instantly gained a strong sense of responsibility and devoted all his patience to this mother and daughter.
After a few days of stabilization, Ye Shenge met Mu Mu's birth mother and gently dispelled all her anxieties.
Everything returned to a peaceful state as the family of three boarded the plane back home. In less than a month, Zi Yisheng's previous businesses were all integrated into a newly established company. Thanks to Tuoba Haicheng's generosity, their cash flow was ample, allowing them to move forward quickly.
Everyone was busy. Ye Shenge's days were filled with picking up and dropping off the children from school, accompanying them in learning foreign languages, and practicing piano with Youyou. Life was simple and happy.
Over three months, Zi Yisheng took his wife to tour the entire country of Kongmeng. They were private trips for the two of them, leaving everyone else behind. He detested having anyone disturb their time alone together. In retrospect, they had had so little exclusive time together over the years; he wanted to make up for it starting now.
When business matters could be handed over to Ouyang, he began to live in a different country for two months at a time, turning their travels into short-term stays. This caused the children to complain, but they could do nothing about it, only receiving gifts and postcards from their irresponsible parents.
During this period, Qu Huanhuan also gave birth to a baby boy, once again continuing the family's male-dominated gene pool. Ye Mu'en, who had never felt the importance of lineage, shed tears of joy the moment he held his son. Although it wasn't the daughter he had longed for, it didn't diminish his immense happiness at having a son.
When the child turned one, Qu Huanhuan also officially took the entrance exam for Fuzheng University. This was Ye Mu'en's deliberate arrangement; childbirth was a matter of fate, but it should never impede anyone's life.
Min Xing, still a bachelor, was now accompanied by another newcomer, Mo Lin, as they scoured for business opportunities. After all, the Chinese medicinal herb business had no market abroad. However, they still purchased vast tracts of uncultivated land to grow herbs suitable for the local climate.
These herbs were used partly for the research of Elder Fan and Xi Rusheng, and partly transported to domestic pharmaceutical companies. Although he had closed down some businesses upon leaving, the medicinal herb business had always been retained.
Within three years, the Zi, Ye, Bai, and Min families had gained considerable prestige in Kongmeng and even surrounding countries. They were strong and had recruited many talented individuals from various fields, venturing into previously unexplored domains.
Ye Shenge had also officially stopped taking medication. The physical side effects were recovering well with the efforts of her master and senior disciple, and at least she no longer needed to rely on any drugs.
In the fourth year, a batch of well-trained subordinates returned to China first, bringing with them substantial capital and technical talent. Zi Yisheng's former contacts in China had long awaited their return and had even smoothed their path in various aspects.
Elder Fan and Xi Rusheng, after several years of study, were confident in reopening their pharmaceutical factory. They were the second group to return.
The third group consisted of Min Xing and Mo Lin. Before returning to China, they visited Tiantian, who had recovered well. However, she refused to leave the psychological treatment center and even found a part-time job there.
Min Xing, seeing that the girl's eyes were no longer filled with obsession, finally smiled with relief. This was good; everyone should go live their own lives.
Mo Lin couldn't make decisions for his sister and could only let her be happy. However, he still arranged for someone to visit her weekly, just to know she wasn't being bullied.
Half of the Bai family also returned. Bai Chenxi, with his wife and child, was the first to rush back, as his parents-in-law had been waiting eagerly.
At the end of the fourth year, the last group of people safely returned to China. The businesses abroad were left to those who were willing to stay and manage them.
