Chapter 245 The Little Koi Who Found Gold
Ye Shengge had no idea about the twists and turns of events. She hadn't even figured out the current situation of this world, only that it felt much more complicated and dangerous than her previous life.
Ye Shengge was someone who faced challenges bravely. Despite her lack of power, she wouldn't let anyone bully her and would always find an advantage within her limited capabilities.
"So, Han Yuyan has definitely sided with our opposition, right!"
Zi Yisheng nodded. There was no need to hide this.
"He might have once held genuine regard for your elder brother, but his family and the circumstances leave him no choice. So..."
Ye Shengge didn't see it that way. In her heart, a bad person was a bad person. If someone truly considered her brother a friend, even under duress, while there might be many unavoidable factors, they would at least confront the problem directly instead of resorting to schemes and stratagems. Based on this alone, she felt no sympathy for Han Yuyan.
"You're wrong. We shouldn't feel any sympathy for Han Yuyan. If he's an enemy, we should strike directly. Otherwise, we'll inevitably get hurt by sentimentality."
Zi Yisheng's lips curved slightly. This was good; the little girl wasn't soft-hearted.
"Yes, I have no sentimental ties with Han Yuyan anyway. If it weren't for you all, I wouldn't even know him."
Ye Shengge thought about it. Her boyfriend used to hold a very high position, so it was normal that he wouldn't know Han Yuyan. But thinking of her brother, her worries from before vanished. They were all transmigrators, and their past friendship was directed at the original owner of the body.
"I'll go back and talk to my elder brother. He shouldn't be indecisive."
Zi Yisheng finally felt at ease. After all, he had met the little girl after Han Yuyan's time, so he wasn't sure of Han Yuyan's standing in the little girl's heart. Now, he was reassured.
"Don't worry. I'll quickly deal with everyone behind Han Yuyan. We came to the Bai Rong team to seek peace; I won't let anyone disrupt it."
Ye Shengge nodded. She had many people to rely on in both her lives, which had led her to a personality where she didn't need to worry about anything. Therefore, she just needed to live a peaceful life.
"Yes, I can't help much. Just let me know if you need me to make any medicine."
Zi Yisheng didn't want the little girl to underestimate herself. She was a very accomplished person. She was good at her studies, could make medicine, and was now studying medicine, already surpassing many girls of her age.
"The medicine you make is truly potent. When you have time, make some more of that truth serum. It's incredibly effective for interrogations and extracting confessions."
Ye Shengge loved the feeling of being needed. She happily nodded.
"Can we still walk? We haven't caught any game yet."
Zi Yisheng extended his hand, feeling that the little girl's complexion had improved significantly.
Ye Shengge reached out for support and stood up, mentally planning to work overtime in her space tonight.
The two resumed their journey, collecting medicinal herbs while looking for game. Ye Shengge once again witnessed Zi Yisheng's hunting skills.
"Two pheasants and one rabbit. That's definitely enough for us to eat."
Zi Yisheng found a small stream and stopped, deciding to have a picnic here today.
Ye Shengge found a shaded, open spot and spread out their mat, arranging the fruits and snacks they brought from home. She couldn't help with processing the game, but she loved the babbling stream.
"I'll walk upstream along the stream. I won't go far."
Zi Yisheng didn't refuse. This wasn't the deep mountains, and being by the stream posed little danger.
"Okay, be careful and don't wander too far."
Ye Shengge walked along the stream. There were large trees and water here, so the temperature was significantly lower, making it feel not at all stuffy.
Actually, Ye Shengge wanted to experience the joy of catching small fish and crabs. She found an area where the water flow wasn't too strong and stopped, first testing the water temperature. It was a bit chilly.
Ye Shengge sat on a large rock by the stream, took off her canvas shoes, tucked her socks inside, and first used her toes to adjust to the water temperature.
It was comfortable, something Ye Shengge had never experienced before, especially the gentle, ticklish sensation of the slow-moving water washing over her feet. She bent down and started overturning rocks, spotting tiny shrimp. She even carefully cupped them with both hands.
Looking at the shrimp still wriggling in her hands, Ye Shengge grinned. Especially when the shrimp jumped back into the water and disappeared, this game of chase felt wonderful.
Ye Shengge continued walking upstream, overturning rocks, not with the goal of catching anything specific, but for the joy of discovery. Even if she caught something, she would let it go, as she had no container for them.
However, Ye Shengge didn't indulge herself by staying in the water the entire time. She was afraid of getting sick. She took out a few wet wipes from her space, cleaned her feet, and then put on her shoes to continue turning over rocks by the stream.
Suddenly, Ye Shengge was attracted by a glimmer of light not far away. It was still in the water, directly under the sunlight where there were no trees to obstruct the view, causing it to sparkle.
Ye Shengge felt like she had struck gold. Perhaps she was a lucky koi who had transmigrated. She quickly stepped on stones to pick up the shining object.
It was a golden-yellow stone. Ye Shengge suspected it was a gold-bearing rock, but she didn't know how to verify it.
Ye Shengge got busy. Where there was one, there would be another. She began to search. By the time Zi Yisheng came looking for her, Ye Shengge had already found four golden-yellow stones, of varying sizes but similar in color.
Zi Yisheng felt that the little girl was still like a child. He had already prepared the game and put it on the fire, yet the little girl was still playing by the stream. Thinking of her previous family background, he realized she might never have explored the mountains, which made him feel a pang of sympathy.
"What are you looking for?"
Ye Shengge heard his voice and quickly turned around. She held up her day's haul and presented it to Zi Yisheng like a treasure.
"Look, I found gold."
Zi Yisheng chuckled and picked up a stone. He didn't believe it at first, but the weight in his hand made him narrow his eyes. He tried to pinch it hard with his fingernail, and indeed, it left an indentation.
"Heh, little lucky star, you really found gold."
Ye Shengge had felt it was gold, but now that it was confirmed, she was truly happy. Who wouldn't like unexpected wealth?
Zi Yisheng glanced into the distance. It seemed he would have to bring people to explore the end of the stream.
"Have you found enough? The rabbit is still on the fire. I'm afraid it'll get burnt."
Ye Shengge immediately became anxious upon hearing this. She had never forgotten the taste of her boyfriend's roasted rabbit from the medicinal garden last time. She couldn't let their only rabbit be ruined.
Gold was no longer important. She quickly pulled her boyfriend back.
"Let's go quickly, I'm already salivating."
Zi Yisheng knew the little girl liked money, but he didn't expect her to be so indifferent to gold when it came to food.
"You don't want the gold anymore?"
Zi Yisheng teased the little girl as they walked. Ye Shengge waved her hand dismissively.
"The gold isn't going anywhere. We'll catch it all after we've eaten our fill."
"Hahahaha, good, we'll catch it all."
