Chapter 48 The Helper

Chapter 48 Helpers

Mo Lin’s face lit up when he saw Ye Shengge, his broad smile particularly dazzling in the sunlight, a smile Ye Shengge envied. She hoped to be able to laugh, run, and play as freely and healthily as Mo Lin in the future.

“Have you guys eaten?”

Mo Lin quickly ran to the kitchen and brought out a bowl of疙瘩汤 (gelatinous soup dumplings), topped with scrambled egg bits and chopped vegetables. It smelled quite good.

“Sister, try the疙瘩汤 I made.”

After speaking, Mo Lin tilted his head up, eagerly awaiting his sister’s praise.

Ye Shengge smiled and took the bowl, placing it on the stone table. She had never tried面疙瘩汤 (noodle疙瘩汤) before.

As the first spoonful entered her mouth, Ye Shengge’s eyebrows shot up. She truly hadn't expected Mo Lin to have such a skill, feeling like she had struck gold.

“Mo Lin, your cooking is delicious. I never knew such a simple面疙瘩汤 could taste so good.”

Hearing this, Mo Lin puffed out his chest. Receiving his sister’s praise was better than anything else; at least he had the ability to be noticed by her.

Ye Shengge finished the entire large bowl of面疙瘩汤, then lay sprawled contentedly in the sun.

“Mo Lin, how was the surveillance last night?”

The mention of it made Mo Lin’s eyes sparkle; he had never done anything so thrilling.

“That guy named Lao San lives near the coal plant. He went straight home after leaving the woods last night. He went to work normally early this morning, and I’ve already found out what he does at the plant.”

Ye Shengge patted Mo Lin’s shoulder with admiration. This little fellow could handle things so thoroughly without her needing to give detailed instructions.

With the praise, Mo Lin’s mouth became like a machine gun, firing off words.

“His full name is Liu Liming, and he’s the third oldest in his family. He’s the foreman of the drivers at the coal plant, in charge of all the plant’s shipments.”

Ye Shengge fell into thought. Ye Xingguo managed production, and Liu Liming managed shipments. Wouldn’t there need to be someone managing the warehouse to assist? Otherwise, there would surely be records of every quantity leaving the stock.

“Mo Lin, do you know any other reliable helpers? We’re a bit short-handed.”

Mo Lin had spent a long time on the streets after his grandfather passed away, and he knew quite a few miscellaneous people.

“Can I know what you want people to do? I’m not trying to pry into details, but I want to know what kind of person would be suitable.”

Ye Shengge patted Mo Lin’s head, not wanting him to be so cautious around her.

“Don’t overthink it. You can ask if you have any doubts in the future. If I can tell you, I will. If I can’t, you don’t need to press for details.

I need someone specifically to track Liu Liming, to figure out everything he does every day. Most importantly, I need to find out exactly when he transports the coal to the warehouse from last night.”

Mo Lin thought for a moment before speaking.

“Sister, this person needs to be reliable and discreet. Otherwise, we might not accomplish anything before the matter gets out.”

Ye Shengge listened to the little fellow talk to himself. In the past, the people around her were all trained by her parents and only helped her with daily life matters. Now, being able to cultivate a little helper felt very fulfilling.

“I know a brother whose family is as poor as mine. He usually helps people move things. But he really likes to help others; my sister and I have both received his help, and he’s quiet and doesn’t talk much. Do you want to meet him? I feel he would be a great helper.”

“You praise him so highly? Then let’s meet him. If he’s suitable, he can work for me in the future, and I’ll pay him a salary.”

Mo Lin was so happy he wanted to run out immediately, but Ye Shengge quickly stopped him.

“I haven’t finished speaking yet, what’s the hurry.”
