The octopus monster attacked us without hesitation as soon as we arrived.
We immediately dodged.
I wasn't worried about Lin Chun at this level of attack speed.
As I pushed myself away, my gaze swept over the surroundings.
This octopus monster was ridiculously large. While I couldn't say how many years it had existed here, its body had occupied almost the entire space.
Tentacles surrounded us everywhere, except for the small area where we stood.
"Brother Lu, are you alright?" Lin Chun asked after landing.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. This guy is too big. We need to attack from different angles..." I said in a low voice.
"I know!" Lin Chun replied, tightening his grip on the Tang long saber in his hand.
I also drew my short sword, my gaze indifferent as I looked at the octopus monster.
After missing its initial attack, the octopus monster seemed unfazed. Its tentacles surged forward again, smashing towards us.
My expression changed. Seizing the opportunity, lightning and flames covered my short sword, radiating a terrifying aura.
Without hesitation, I thrust my short sword towards the octopus monster.
This creature appeared abnormally massive, but in reality, its defense was incredibly robust.
As my sword strike descended, it severed the attacking tentacles of the octopus monster, which writhed on the ground.
"This is fresh food..." Lin Chun exclaimed with a laugh after cutting off a tentacle.
"Don't get careless. This thing might not be as simple as it looks..." I said, not needing to aim precisely as the surrounding area was filled with the monster's severed limbs.
I continuously swung my sword, accompanied by the roar of lightning and flames, leaving gash after gash.
Dozens of the octopus monster's tentacles had already been severed, and countless fissures appeared on its main body.
The octopus monster let out a roar and swung its tentacles again.
Once we understood its attack patterns, our movements became much easier.
We effortlessly dodged its attacks while relentlessly launching our own.
In just over ten minutes, all of the octopus monster's tentacles had been cut off.
Various tentacles lay scattered on the ground, a sight that was rather disgusting.
I certainly wouldn't want to eat this thing.
Lin Chun looked at the octopus monster. Despite its mangled state, it still seemed capable of fighting.
"Brother Lu, do you think this thing is from ancient times?" Lin Chun asked.
His words made me fall into thought.
I was quite sure that this place had existed for a considerable time. The coffins outside, the mysterious barrier, and that turtle—it seemed no one else had been here before.
Considering this, had the creatures here also existed for a long time?
Perhaps this creature was small when it first entered, and its size grew over time.
However, it had left no markers or useful traces, so I couldn't find any relevant information...
"It doesn't matter. Let's finish it," I said.
Lin Chun nodded, and we charged forward.
Just then, the octopus monster's body twitched, and a massive cloud of ink was spewed towards us.
I had thought we could finish it off with this opportunity, but it seemed things wouldn't be so simple.
I retreated rapidly, my short sword crackling with lightning and flames.
I had intended to block the attack, but it was clearly impossible.
The giant ink cloud enveloped us, emitting a foul odor.
However, in the next moment, I felt something was wrong.
"Lin Chun, get out quickly!" I shouted.
Lin Chun also reacted, his Shepherd's Power surging, lightning flashing within it.
The urgency stemmed from my discovery that the ink was corrosive.
It wasn't corroding our bodies or clothes, but our Shepherd's Power!
If we struggled in here for too long, our Shepherd's Power would be completely depleted.
In that scenario, neither of us would be able to escape.
Without any hesitation, fire and lightning erupted, fiercely clashing against the ink.
Even so, I could clearly feel that my attacks were not as effective as before.
But I dared not delay, continuing to launch attacks at an even faster pace.
I knew my current time was my life. Any further delay could mean our deaths here!
