We waited by the side as the flames dissipated, then walked over to inspect.
The surroundings had been completely burned. It was then that I noticed, at the very bottom of the mountain, there seemed to be some traces.
“Let’s dig down and see!” I said, and immediately got to work.
Shen Zhi came over and dug with me.
Sure enough, beneath the earth, we found an opening to a cave.
The entrance wasn’t very large; it was just big enough for one person to squeeze through, so we went in.
“Why do they all like to hide these things in caves…” I chuckled helplessly.
But I could basically understand why.
The weather outside was constantly changing; no one knew if the next day would be sunny, stormy, or a tornado.
Keeping things inside a cave was relatively safer.
Except for the entrance being blocked by dirt, it widened considerably as we moved further inside.
This cave was naturally formed, with no signs of human excavation around.
Only the entrance seemed to have been widened a bit.
The two of us walked forward. Not long after, we found that the space in front of us suddenly opened up.
Before me were two cave entrances.
One to the left, one to the right.
“This…” Shen Zhi glanced over. “Lu Ge, how about we each take one side?”
“No…” I shook my head.
Earlier, Elder Yu had said that this place was designed to prevent cultivators from entering, so there were certain dangers.
If we split up, and something happened, we wouldn’t be able to cover each other.
“Then which way should we go?” Shen Zhi asked.
I didn’t answer, but looked at both sides.
I wanted to search for some traces on the ground, but unfortunately, there was nothing inside.
Perhaps it was due to the passage of time, or perhaps someone had deliberately cleaned away any evidence.
I carefully observed the left cave entrance. Within my perception range, it was pitch black, with nothing there. The situation on the right was the same.
“How about… we flip a coin?” Shen Zhi asked with a smile.
“You actually thought of that…” I sighed. This wasn’t a place for games; if we chose the wrong path, there might be danger.
Elder Yu had said that the things inside were extremely precious. If that were the case, the mechanisms wouldn’t be weak either.
Suddenly, I felt a faint breeze blowing from the left cave entrance.
“There’s wind!” Shen Zhi exclaimed. “The left cave entrance has wind…”
“Let’s go right!” I said.
“Why?” Shen Zhi looked confused.
“The things inside must be hidden very deep. If there’s wind, it means there’s an opening, which isn’t conducive to preserving the items…” As I spoke, I walked directly into the right cave entrance.
The moment we both stepped inside, something behind us seemed to collapse with a roar.
Turning around, the cave entrance was blocked. It looked like they didn’t want us to go back.
“Lu Ge… did we make the wrong choice?” Shen Zhi asked.
“Since we’ve already chosen, let’s go in and see…” I said, leading the way forward.
After walking for about ten minutes, we arrived in a large hall.
This hall was completely empty.
“What is this place?” Shen Zhi seemed puzzled.
I shook my head. The floor of this hall seemed to have been deliberately smoothed, making it exceptionally flat.
“I’ll go take a look!” Shen Zhi said, and walked directly towards the center of the hall.
“Don’t!” I shouted, but it was too late.
Shen Zhi stepped onto the floor.
Then I saw the ground begin to vibrate, followed by it splitting into many small squares.
The square Shen Zhi had stepped on flew up and quickly assembled, forming a giant.
This giant still retained its original blocky form but was now able to move.
In the largest square at the top, a pair of eyes slowly appeared, emitting a scarlet glow.
Seeing this, I didn’t hesitate and rushed forward, pulling Shen Zhi behind me.
Just then, the giant raised its arm high and slammed down fiercely towards our position.
“Move back!” I roared. On my short sword, flames and lightning surged, and I slashed downwards at the giant.
The flames left a massive afterimage in the air, striking the giant’s arm.
The giant’s arm instantly detached.
“It seems it’s not that strong…” I felt a slight sense of relief. As I prepared to attack again, I suddenly noticed that the arm I had just cut off began to vibrate, then turned into dirt and returned to the giant’s arm.
This giant seemed unaffected by the attack!
Seeing this, my expression turned grim.
This fellow had terrifying regenerative abilities. This battle was going to be troublesome.
But we couldn’t just sit here and wait for death. Holding my short sword, I charged forward!
