I had initially thought this place, having been expanded, would be at most ten square meters, possibly a makeshift shelter built by some previous human activity.
But upon seeing clearly, I realized this place was nothing like that.
It was a colossal hall, nearly a thousand square meters.
Most importantly, this hall was filled with various instruments.
These instruments had long ceased operation, already rusted beyond recognition.
"Could this place be an experimental base?" I was uncertain.
However, the size and furnishings of this place truly astonished me.
With that thought, I lit my torch. The flames erupted, and a blinding light shot towards the sky.
Instantly, I could fully discern the entirety of this hall.
It was an immense hall, and to my surprise, it contained all sorts of containers.
These containers were enormous, each about two people tall, filled with a green liquid.
Seeing this, Lin Chun's expression changed. The scene filled him with a sense of foreboding.
"This place... it feels vaguely familiar..." Lin Chun spoke.
"A cultivation chamber?" I asked with a smile.
Lin Chun shook his head. "I'm not joking..."
Just as I was about to say more, my gaze suddenly fixed on one of the containers.
In this particular container, the green fluid was much less. I could clearly see what was inside the glass cylinder.
It was a creature resembling a human.
I called it human-like because its features, hands, and feet were nearly identical to a human's, with almost no discernible difference.
But I couldn't be sure.
The reason was simple: this "human" was too bizarre.
Its head was much larger than a normal person's, and it had some unknown scales on its body.
All of this gave me the feeling that these creatures were all test subjects.
I didn't know how many years they had been immersed in this place, but judging by the dust outside, it was likely a considerable amount of time.
"Lu Ge..." Lin Chun spoke slowly, "I feel like something is wrong. Why don't we leave this place first..."
I nodded, about to turn away, when I suddenly heard the sound of gears turning.
My expression instantly changed upon hearing this.
I had assumed this was an abandoned place, but it seemed the situation was more complex than I had imagined.
The moment the sound of gears grinding to a halt ceased, I clearly saw that the path we had taken was blocked by a massive steel plate.
Concurrently, a faint electrical hum could be heard.
Following that, a bright light erupted overhead, then a second, then a third.
They were lightbulbs!
Such things were common in civilized worlds, but seeing them here was practically a miracle!
However, before we could carefully count how many lights there were, we suddenly noticed that the cultivation pods holding the monstrous bodies began to tremble.
"What's happening?" Lin Chun immediately entered a combat stance.
Without hesitation, I instantly unleashed the "Thousand Mile Wild."
Now, any slight disturbance would prompt me to act without reservation, even if I was about to face something I knew nothing about.
Just then, a crisp sound suddenly echoed in the empty hall.
Following it, a series of sounds ensued, one after another.
It was the sound of glass shattering!
Lin Chun looked towards the sound of breaking glass and saw a crack appearing in one of the cultivation pods.
The crack grew, and finally, at a certain moment, as if unable to withstand some unseen force, it exploded!
With that sound, the surrounding glass containers also shattered.
The monsters, previously submerged, slowly stepped out, their eyes filled with murderous intent!
"Who are you?" Lin Chun asked.
However, the creature seemed to have no intention of replying, merely opening its mouth and letting out a monstrous shriek.
"What's wrong with this guy?" Lin Chun was bewildered.
Before he could finish speaking, he saw the monster open its eyes and fix its gaze upon me.
The next instant, the monster charged forward, slamming directly towards my chest.
Without hesitation, I drew my short sword and slashed downwards.
My short sword, imbued with the power of the Shepherd God, possessed immense strength. With this strike, it emitted a sound like metal clashing.
My expression changed instantly.
Since acquiring this weapon, I hadn't encountered anything I couldn't cut, at least until now.
But this monster before me was unaffected by my strike.
Lin Chun stared intently, his face ashen. "What kind of monster is this?!"
