The scale of this is Luo Yaqin!
I immediately lost all desire to sleep.
I adjusted my position, making Luo Yaqin more comfortable in my arms.
Burying my head by her ear, I whispered, "With so many people around, aren't you afraid they'll find out?"
Luo Yaqin squeezed tighter into my embrace and responded coquettishly, "Isn't it good that there are many people?"
Damn, I'm not Hong Shixian!
Luo Yaqin's answer caught me off guard, and I felt a surge of heat flow downwards.
Luo Yaqin seemed to sense the change in my body and lightly hit me, "Little rascal, always thinking naughty thoughts!" She then squeezed into my arms again.
I felt tormented. I would rather fight a real battle than have the meat I could taste just out of reach.
Under this sensual torment, I must have fallen asleep at some point.
The next morning, at the first hint of dawn, I got out of bed.
I rubbed my eyes, put on all my gear, and left the cave.
The weather outside was getting progressively worse. The slight grogginess of just waking up was completely cleared by the cold wind.
Remarkably, my luck was quite good. Not long after leaving, I spotted a rabbit grazing in the grass.
I crept up to it, then lifted it by its ears with both hands, catching it.
Although this rabbit is delicious, its only drawback is its small size. What a headache. How many rabbit skins would it take to make one the size of a bear skin!
If only I could encounter a black bear.
I knocked the rabbit unconscious and tossed it into the bamboo basket, then headed into the woods.
As I walked, I had the persistent feeling of being watched.
I circled around a tree and suddenly turned my head.
I saw a pair of green eyes in the bushes, staring at me greedily!
Gripping my knife tightly, I calmly met its gaze for a moment.
Perhaps it was the animal's instinct that I wasn't an easy target, because those green eyes vanished in an instant.
Damn, this forest is becoming increasingly dangerous.
I had a feeling that the animal with the green eyes wouldn't give up so easily, so I started setting traps around a large tree.
As expected, after not too long, pairs of eyes began to peer at me from the bushes.
They finally revealed themselves: a pack of hyenas.
There were five hyenas in total, panting heavily, their eyes fixed on me as they began to encircle me in a crescent shape.
Why would hyenas be in a place like this?
Had something happened in this forest that was forcing them to come out and hunt!
I had only seen these types of hyenas once in my life. They are primarily scavengers, and would only attack living creatures under extreme duress!
But these weren't the most pressing concerns. The greedy glint in each hyena's eyes made me silently wary. I gripped my knife tightly, leaning against the tree trunk.
The hyena on my left made a probing attack. It crouched slightly and lunged at me.
Damn it, you look down on me?
Do you really think numbers give you the right to mess with me!
I bent my left leg slightly and delivered a whip kick, sending the hyena that had leaped into the air flying back. It landed on the ground with a whimper and didn't move again.
The others were not deterred and swarmed forward, just as I had hoped.
They hadn't taken more than a few steps before falling into my traps, howling miserably at the bottom of the pit.
A bunch of beasts dare to provoke me!
Their fate is to be my drinking snacks!
Speaking of which, I really miss the taste of alcohol. There's no drink here.
My mouth feels like it's going to sprout birds.
Standing by the edge of the pit, I used stones to kill all the hyenas, then fished out their carcasses one by one.
When I climbed back up, I discovered something bad!
The hyena that had been motionless earlier was gone.
I searched carefully and found faint bloodstains in the bushes to my left.
Damn it, it didn't die, it escaped!
If this hyena goes back and calls for backup, and twenty or thirty of them come, I'll be finished.
My heart tightened, and I quickly followed the blood trail.
Not long after, I saw the hyena I had injured earlier huddled by a tree hollow, already dead.
I walked over and picked up the hyena.
Suddenly, I thought I heard a sound from the tree hollow.
I cautiously shone my lighter inside and saw a litter of hyena pups whimpering inside.
When they saw me, they bared their teeth.
Looking at the litter of pups, I fell silent for a moment.
After hesitating for two seconds, I picked up a stone from the ground and smashed it hard into the tree hollow.
If the roots are not removed, they will grow back with the spring wind.
If you're going to blame anyone, blame the law of the jungle, survival of the fittest.
I glanced at the destroyed tree hollow and turned to leave.
I returned to the trap area and, carrying all five hyenas, headed towards the beach.
It's a shame the hyena meat is sour and smelly and completely inedible. Fortunately, the pelts are still intact. Once dried, they can be used.
I sat on the beach and skillfully skinned the hyenas with my knife, soaking the pelts in seawater so they wouldn't stiffen when dried.
Suddenly—
A sharp shriek echoed through the sky. I looked up and saw several vultures circling overhead.
Damn it, where did all these things come from!
One of them swooped down, quickly pouncing towards the hyena carcasses by my feet.
This vulture was a full circle larger than normal. Its wingspan was easily two meters, and its eyes gleamed with bloodlust.
I've dealt with most of the ground creatures, and now the winged ones have arrived.
I protected the pelts and, wielding my alloy knife, kept a close watch on their movements.
However, the vultures seemed intelligent, constantly circling above my head.
Seeing this, I became uneasy and could only speed up my pace, quickly skinning the remaining hyenas. I then left the area, leaving the carcasses to them.
I took my spoils back to the cave and was very satisfied with the bear meat drying outside.
Once this batch of bear meat is dried, even if we don't hunt daily, it should last us at least a month.
I walked into the cave. Luo Yaqin, upon seeing me return, rushed to greet me, her hands anxiously feeling my body.
"Did you get hurt on your outing today?"
I put down my spoils and hugged her gently, "Don't worry, you know my skills."
Luo Yaqin finally relaxed and playfully hit me,
"You naughty thing, I was so worried about you!"
Qu Xiangyun, standing nearby, looked at my spoils for the day and said with admiration, "Lu Ziye, you're truly amazing. You said you were going to find pelts yesterday, and today you've brought back so many."
I waved my hand at her and said calmly, "This is just the beginning. With me here, you can all rest easy!"
Everyone started to fuss over me with concern. Only Pan Lili seemed unable to shake off the shock of Li Degui's death, sitting listlessly in a corner.
Guan Hai'er took the rabbit outside to clean it, while I comfortably enjoyed Luo Yaqin's lap pillow and gentle massage.
I took a short nap. When I opened my eyes, I found Shangguan Yao making dinner!
Is the sun rising in the west today?
Shangguan Yao can actually cook!
Shangguan Yao ladled a bowl of rabbit soup from the pot and proudly handed it to me, "Eat quickly, you must have had a hard day."
I took the food, feeling secretly delighted.
To think that Shangguan Yao would actually cook for me with her own hands one day!
