Chapter 492 The Prey and the Hunter

With that, I was the first to plunge into the sea, and the other wildlings followed without hesitation.

This was why I had brought these people with me; they would undoubtedly follow me without question!

At this moment, the mercenaries also noticed my actions.

"Those guys went into the sea!" one of the mercenaries shouted, firing his light machine gun towards where we had entered the water.

Even though bullets would deviate from their trajectory when hitting water, these men were not aiming at all.

They were relying solely on their numerical advantage, trying to kill me with a hail of indiscriminate gunfire!

I could only keep diving deeper, pressing myself against the seabed. This way, I could maximize the distance the bullets would have to travel before reaching me.

Simultaneously, I knew that we couldn't stay underwater for too long.

My body, now enhanced, combined with the Shepherd's Power, allowed me to stay submerged for about twenty minutes.

However, the other wildlings were different.

They were still ordinary people, and being able to hold their breath for two minutes would be quite an accomplishment.

Suddenly, the commotion outside quieted down, as if those people had vanished into thin air.

Yet, I was certain they were waiting on the shore. The moment we surfaced, we would be met with an overwhelming barrage of bullets.

After diving to the seabed, I made a hand signal to the wildlings, instructing them to stay put.

Then, without looking back, I swam away with the current, heading into the distance.

There were two reasons for going into the water. Firstly, I could use the sea to minimize the threat from bullets.

Secondly, underwater, I didn't have to worry about thermal imaging.

Despite these advantages, I had to pick up my pace.

My time was running out!

Those wildlings couldn't hold their breath for much longer. I had, at most, about a minute to handle this.

If it exceeded one minute, some of the wildlings would inevitably be unable to hold on and would try to surface.

That would be a massacre.

Therefore, I had to accomplish as much as possible within this limited timeframe!

With the Shepherd's Power augmenting my enhanced body, my speed in the water was even faster than on land.

With nearly forty seconds remaining, I maneuvered through the water to their rear. At this point, all their attention was focused on the sea, and no one noticed someone suddenly appearing behind them.

I swiftly approached a mercenary, and the Shepherd's Power surged out, engulfing him.

Before the mercenary could even scream, he collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Seizing the opportunity, I took both of his handguns.

Seeing these exquisite firearms, my urge to finish this quickly grew even stronger.

These weapons could all be used by me later. Every bullet they wasted was essentially mine!

After taking down one mercenary, I continued forward. My body, enveloped by the Shepherd's Power, was already minimizing any sound to the greatest extent possible.

These mercenaries lived dangerous lives, so they were highly attuned to their surroundings.

The reason I succeeded this time was because their attention was solely focused on the sea.

I repeated the same tactic, eliminating four or five mercenaries. Finally, someone reacted.

"What's going on? Where did that guy behind me go? He was just standing here, and now he's suddenly vanished."

"Wait, I saw him standing behind me before. How did he disappear all of a sudden?"

"Vaporized into thin air? What on earth is happening?"

While these men were in a panic, they didn't notice someone dressed in mercenary attire silently blending into their ranks.

This person was, of course, me.

"Increase security. If you spot that guy, eliminate him without hesitation!" the man in the suit ordered sternly. The others quickly nodded in agreement.

As I mingled with the mercenaries, I was constantly calculating the time.

Right now, the wildlings could hold their breath for a maximum of about twenty more seconds.

If I couldn't come up with a good plan within these twenty seconds, it meant the wildlings might lose their lives because of me!

This was something I desperately wanted to avoid.

Seeing their focused expressions, it seemed they had made up their minds... to capture us all.

Thus, every one of them was extremely cautious.

Having lived dangerous lives, they were highly focused in this situation.

With only a few seconds left, I couldn't afford to hesitate any longer. I let out a roar at the top of my lungs: "Help! Luzi Ye is here!"

Indeed, the moment my voice rang out, the mercenaries who had been staring at the sea all turned to look at me.

With "Thousand Mile Wilderness" unleashed instantly, my expression darkened. "Come on!"
