I instinctively reached for the handgun at my waist.
But the giant python had the initiative, and my hand couldn't reach my side. Moreover, with every struggle, the python tightened its coils around me faster. There was no choice but to temporarily cease struggling to stabilize the python.
"Guan Hai'er, quickly throw me the knife!"
Looking at the python's reddened eyes, I felt a chill.
These creatures were among the apex predators in the jungle.
If a python was large enough, it could even swallow an elephant.
This python, though not big enough to swallow an elephant, was more than capable of swallowing me!
Guan Hai'er heard my call, quickly drew the alloy knife from her waist, and hurled it in my direction with all her might.
Even though I was entangled by the python, unable to even turn, my senses, far beyond those of ordinary people, allowed me to steady my grip on the alloy knife in mid-air.
With this old companion, my heart immediately settled.
Now it was time to deal with this beast!
The python seemed to sense the threat, flicking its tongue and lunging at my head!
Just in time!
If the python hadn't attacked proactively and instead slowly crushed me to death, I would have been helpless. After all, its upper body was suspended from the tree, and my attack range was limited, making it impossible to reach its vital spots.
But now, I had seized an opportunity.
I held my breath, gathered my energy, and let out a roar!
A cold gleam flashed, and the snake's head rolled to the ground.
"Hai'er, get this snake head away quickly!"
I knew pythons were cold-blooded. Even after death, residual nerves could control their bodies, and many people had been fatally bitten by detached snake heads due to carelessness.
Guan Hai'er, hearing my words, didn't approach the snake head. Instead, she directly drew her handgun from her waist and shot the snake head into a bloody mess.
Clean and decisive!
Although the giant python was dead, its residual nerve cells were still active, so its body remained tightly wrapped around my waist.
I called Guan Hai'er over and had her hold the python's tail, turning counter-clockwise to unwind the python's body completely.
As the python's body fell to the ground, I finally let out a sigh of relief.
Damn it, this beast was good at hiding.
If I hadn't been lucky, I would have been swallowed whole by it!
But speaking of which, this giant python was at least three meters long when stretched out.
Its meat alone could feed us for two or three days, an unexpected gain.
I handed the alloy knife to Guan Hai'er and asked her to cut down all the Bloodvine from the trees. Then, I found a wooden stick nearby and wound the python's body around it, coil by coil, and we headed back.
"We're having snake meat today!"
As we returned to the cave, I announced.
Luo Yaqin was tending to a large pot set over the fire, the water boiling furiously, though it was unclear what she was cooking.
She ignored me.
I handed the giant python's carcass to the Ke Xin and Ke Ya sisters, telling them to clean it, allowing them some practice.
Then I went over to Luo Yaqin and put my arm around her shoulder.
"What are you cooking in there? It doesn't even smell good."
Luo Yaqin seemed a little embarrassed by the crowd, wriggling slightly. Seeing she couldn't break free from my embrace, she resigned herself to it.
"We don't have any sanitary napkins among our supplies. I had to tear up some clothes, use the cotton and wooden strips inside, and boil them to make a simple makeshift pad for her."
Luo Yaqin said, gesturing towards Shangguan Yao, who had already fallen asleep beside them. Shangguan Yao's condition was not good; even in her sleep, her face was etched with pain, and she was covered in a cold sweat.
I had heard that some women felt nothing during their periods, while others suffered excruciating pain, as if being flayed alive. It seemed Shangguan Yao was the latter.
"This is going to be a problem if everyone gets their period every month," I mused with some distress.
Although my current team was entirely comprised of women, which would make any man envious, every family had its own troubles. If everyone had their period monthly, the team's labor force would be severely depleted.
By then, the cloth strips and cotton in the pot had been sterilized. Luo Yaqin casually fished them out and said to me in passing, "It's not that hard to solve this problem."
My eyes lit up. Did Luo Yaqin have a solution?
Luo Yaqin put on a mysterious expression, leaned closer, and whispered to me, "Women don't get their periods when they're pregnant. If you get everyone pregnant, the problem will be solved."
Luo Yaqin couldn't help but burst into giggles after she finished speaking.
Me: "... damn it!"
