The plane was in such a state that it was impossible for anyone on board to have survived, let alone be without any supplies.
I, along with Zhuo Ya, went into the interior of the plane for another search.
As expected, there was nothing, not even a shadow of a corpse.
Could it be that a group of survivors managed to live after the plane crashed?
Just as I was pondering, I suddenly felt something watching me from the shadows. I sharply turned and looked towards the bushes behind us.
"Who's there!"
The bushes rustled, and the thing behind them seemed to be greatly frightened after being discovered, quickly fleeing.
The sound wasn't like animal footsteps. Could it be a survivor from the plane? But why would they run away as soon as they saw us?
I didn't have time to think too much and chased after them with Zhuo Ya.
The person was wearing a short-sleeved shirt. They were a victim!
I shouted for the person ahead to stop, but they not only showed no reaction but sped up.
Finally, we followed that person to an open area.
In the distance stood a large tree with lush branches, and under the tree were a few tents clustered together.
We had actually found a survivor camp!
I took a deep breath, suppressing my somewhat excited emotions.
After all, I had been on this island for about a month, spending my days dealing with wild beasts or living with Shangguan Yao and the others, completely detached from human society.
Suddenly seeing so many people, I felt a surge of emotion.
Just as I was about to step out of the woods to greet my long-lost compatriots, Zhuo Ya suddenly grabbed my sleeve. I turned back to look at her in surprise.
"Brother Xiao Ye, are we really going to interact with these people?"
Zhuo Ya said to me timidly.
I saw unease and fear on her face. The valiant female warrior had, at this moment, become a timid little girl.
It was understandable. I had always seen Zhuo Ya as a partner fighting alongside me, not as a girl who had just come of age and had lived her entire life in the wild alone.
Suddenly asking her to face so many strangers, people from an environment she was completely unfamiliar with, it was perfectly normal for Zhuo Ya to have these emotions.
But these survivors were right before our eyes. It wouldn't do to just turn back.
So, I smiled and patted Zhuo Ya's shoulder, "It's okay, I'll just chat with them and get some information. If they dare to cause any trouble, I'm here!"
Although they were all victims, I still maintained a degree of caution.
After all, human nature was the most difficult thing in this world to test. A well-dressed person in normal society might remain a good person their entire life.
But put them in this isolated, nature-red-in-tooth-and-claw, survival-of-the-fittest primeval forest, and who knew what would happen.
Li Degui was a prime example!
However, Zhuo Ya and I were fully armed now, with guns and knives. Even if a conflict arose, these people who had just been stranded on an unknown island would be no match for us.
Of course, I preferred peaceful communication.
I walked towards the camp, with Zhuo Ya following me like a young bride.
The survivors were sitting on the ground in twos and threes, looking dejected. Their clothes were covered in dust, making them appear quite disheveled.
I quietly observed the people before me and noticed that they didn't seem to be a unified group but were divided into several smaller factions, sitting separately.
This group of survivors showed no surprise at seeing me. They merely cast a casual glance my way and then ignored me.
I felt a bit perplexed. What was wrong with these people? Even if they weren't overjoyed to see their fellow countrymen, they should at least show some reaction!
As I was observing with confusion, a fragrance suddenly wafted towards us.
This smell...
Damn, it was Old Altar Sauerkraut Beef Noodles!
This aroma reminded me of countless late nights working overtime at the company.
I had eaten so much Old Altar Sauerkraut Beef Noodles back then that I was almost sick of it. But now, just smelling it made my mouth water involuntarily.
Even though we had food every day on this island, it lacked any seasonings. How could it compare to instant noodles!
Zhuo Ya also smelled the fragrance, and her eyes lit up. "Brother Xiao Ye, what is this? It smells so good!"
I smiled and patted her hand. Indeed, even the little glutton Zhuo Ya couldn't resist the aroma of Old Altar Sauerkraut Beef Noodles.
"Don't worry, brother will definitely let you have some!"
