"Master Li, wait for me!"
Yi Zhi Er scurried after him, afraid of being left behind.
"How did you end up here, kid?!"
Master Li panted, large drops of sweat trickling down his neck and soaking his collar.
As Master Li spoke, he pushed aside some bushes, about to catch his breath, when he suddenly saw me leaning against a tree, looking at them with a half-smile.
My gaze held mockery, as if I were looking at a lamb destined for slaughter. This feeling greatly displeased him.
Yi Zhi Er, behind him, also cast a hateful glance my way upon seeing me, as I was the one who had reduced him to his current state.
Both of them were utterly drained, having just narrowly escaped death.
In contrast, I appeared full of energy. They couldn't help but be wary of me.
"Brother, don't make trouble for yourself. If you know what's good for you, get out of our way. Otherwise, don't blame us for being impolite!"
Seeing the knife in my hand, Master Li showed some apprehension, but it couldn't hide his arrogant nature.
"I've been waiting for you here for a long time. So, how does it feel to be chased by jackals?"
My eyes roamed carelessly over Master Li and Yi Zhi Er, as if they were mere slabs of meat on a chopping block.
Upon hearing me mention the jackals rampaging in their camp, Master Li suddenly understood.
The fleshy part of his face twitched uncontrollably with anger.
"You bastard, did you lead the jackals here?!"
This idiot wasn't entirely stupid.
I chuckled dismissively, offering no reply, and continued to stare at the two of them as if they were prey.
Often, silence is the best answer. Seeing my reaction, Master Li and Yi Zhi Er immediately had their answer.
"Damn it, it was you! The jackals ate my woman!"
Hmm?
I recalled that the woman he had personally pushed towards the jackals earlier was the one he had snatched yesterday.
*Tsk!*
He, who had committed such an inhuman act, was now accusing me of being shameless.
I couldn't be bothered with Master Li any longer, as in my eyes, he was already a dying man.
What else could one expect from a terminal patient besides submission?
I walked towards him step by step.
"Alright, you can tell her yourself. It's a shame about the scenery, though. Such a beautiful view will be stained by your wretched blood! It's a waste of this land."
Seeing me calmly approach them, Master Li began to panic.
He immediately pulled Yi Zhi Er from behind him and pushed him forward.
"You brat, only you will die here today!"
He was truly a ruthless and wicked individual. While his words sounded brave, his body betrayed him as he pushed his subordinate forward to his death.
In any case, both of them had to be dealt with, so it didn't matter who went first.
Yi Zhi Er was forcibly held in front by Master Li, yet dared not resist.
He gritted his teeth and, closing his eyes, charged at me!
"You bastard, you cut off my ear! Today I'm going to kill you! Ahhh!"
Honestly, after enduring countless life-and-death struggles on the deserted island and defeating one formidable opponent after another, I had no interest whatsoever in such insignificant existences.
Looking at Yi Zhi Er's flawed attacks, my heart was as calm as a lake's surface.
When he reached me, I merely sidestepped and swept his leg, sending him face-first onto the ground.
How boring.
Yi Zhi Er tried to struggle to his feet, but I had no intention of delaying any further. With a casual swing of my blade, I ended his life.
Master Li had intended to use Yi Zhi Er as a shield to buy himself time to escape.
But who could have predicted that Yi Zhi Er would so readily sacrifice himself?
Seeing me walk towards him, my alloy blade dripping blood, Master Li immediately dropped to his knees, repeatedly kowtowing.
"Brother, no, Father! Be magnanimous and spare me this once. I'll never dare again. I'll be a good person from now on. Please, let me go!"
This beast's will to survive was truly strong.
He understood the gap between us and was even calling me "Father" in hopes of being spared.
I wasn't in a hurry to act. I walked to within two meters of him and watched his performance with amusement.
The weather was scorching hot.
The ground was baked into hard chunks.
Master Li’s head struck the ground repeatedly, and soon his forehead was a bloody mess.
"Father, Father! From now on, I'll be your most loyal dog. I'll do whatever you say. Please, spare me!"
Seeing that I hadn't attacked him immediately, hope flickered in Master Li's eyes again.
He dared not stand, but rather crawled on his knees towards me.
Seeing my lack of reaction, he made as if to embrace my leg and beg for mercy.
However, the malice in his eyes was not lost on me.
This beast intended to trick me?
Having weathered far greater storms, how could I possibly be capsized in such a shallow ditch?
Before Master Li could make his move, I kicked him flying.
Master Li flew back a good three meters, and the butterfly knife hidden in his sleeve was flung out.
The best way to torture someone is to give them hope, and then completely strip it away.
Now that I had my fill, it was time to send him on his way!
