The High Priest and Hu Tu are in cahoots?!
Mr. A's words stunned me, and I instinctively denied his claim.
"How is that possible?"
One is the tribal chief, the person in charge of the Du'an tribe's secular and military affairs.
The other is the High Priest, the representative of the Shepherd God on earth.
Hu Tu and the High Priest naturally had a power conflict, which was not dependent on their personal will but on their respective duties.
Hu Tu was undoubtedly an ambitious leader. If he wanted to gain more power, he would have to bring down the High Priest. How could he cooperate with him?!
Mr. A thought for a moment and nodded.
"The possibility is indeed very small, but Hu Tu should have known beforehand what the High Priest was doing."
"You mean?"
"Replacing the Shepherd God!"
Holy cow, that's intense!
Two sides, outwardly sworn enemies, were secretly collaborating to murder a god and take his place?!
"I think that no matter how careful the High Priest is, in such a long period, his actions must have aroused the suspicion of some chief!"
"Only by the combined efforts of the chief in charge of secular affairs and the High Priest in charge of sacrifices can this plan be successfully implemented!"
Mr. A became more and more excited, his eyes seemed to light up, and his speech became faster and faster, eventually almost jumping up from the ground.
Damn it, thinking about it this way, the possibility is very high, especially considering Hu Tu's strange reaction.
"So, apart from the High Priest and the plan to eliminate Hu Tu after usurping the Shepherd God, Hu Tu knows everything else!"
A grand blueprint seemed to unfold before my eyes: over the long years, weak human leaders had joined forces, wanting to pull down the arrogant and supreme deity.
Finally, after countless generations of effort, it was about to bear fruit.
If I could participate in this, completing this great undertaking would undoubtedly be very fulfilling. But the problem now is that given my relationship with the High Priest, I'm the one who's going to be killed.
I irritably ran my hands through my hair. If this were a story, then undoubtedly Mr. A and I would be the pure villains, ruthlessly crushed by the High Priest, who was called the god of humanity.
"Damn it, I have to go tell Hu Tu right now that the High Priest plans to eliminate him while performing the ritual."
I blurted out subconsciously, got up to find Hu Tu, and before Mr. A could stop me, I slumped back onto the bed.
"Guess what, if you go to Hu Tu now and say that, who do you think he'll believe, the High Priest or you?"
Mr. A stood in front of me and gently voiced my thoughts.
"Damn it!"
I slammed the bed board forcefully, making the already not very sturdy bed creak.
As Mr. A said, for generations, leaders and High Priests had planned this for so many years, and it was about to succeed. How could it stop because of my words and fail at the last hurdle?
And, more importantly, I had no evidence that the High Priest intended to kill Hu Tu. All of this was just a deduction by Mr. A and me based on various clues.
Even in an outside court, such unproven matters would not be accepted. But the strange thing was that if we waited for the High Priest to make his move, everything would be ruined.
Thinking about this, I suddenly felt a sense of despair. It seemed like there were countless paths before me, but each one led to a dead end.
"At this point, we can only rely on ourselves. Didn't Hu Tu just say he would strengthen his defenses? I hope he can be of some use then."
Good advice cannot persuade a suicidal ghost. Whether Hu Tu can survive, I don't know. Right now, I only care about myself and whether I can survive.
"Mr. A, can you contact Pan Lili now?"
At this point, only one thought filled my mind: to quickly go to the Western Heaven and ask the Shepherd God to come and save the day!
Where is the Shepherd God?!
Help!
Even a broken ship has three nails. The Shepherd God was, after all, a deity who had defeated the mother of all creation. Even if He was now imprisoned, He should have some trump cards!
"I'll try to contact her."
Mr. A nodded seriously. In the current situation, the only person bound to me was Mr. A. Without my presence, he would likely be caught by the Shepherd God's proxy outside this tent and taken to the High Priest to be killed.
"I'll go find Ada on my end. Even if I can't persuade him to join us, at least I can make him more prepared that day."
I got up and walked to the basin for water, splashing my face with icy cold water.
"Even if the path ahead is a dead end, I will turn this dead end into a path of revival!"
