After boarding, I led the two sisters to the other side of the boat, keeping as much distance as possible from the woman.
Even though I had encountered those bugs before, I couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't spread to us like an epidemic.
Seeing that we obediently boarded the boat, the woman no longer pointed her gun at us. Instead, she grinned at us.
Her smile was incredibly eerie, causing the flesh on her entire face to tremble.
"You finally got on, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
Damn it, good people die young, but villains live for a thousand years!
"How did you survive?"
I suppressed the disgust in my heart and asked the woman, feigning indifference.
"I don't want to die, but it's no different from being dead now. I can't even feel myself breathing."
The woman looked lost, her tone revealing a fear of the unknown.
Her inner turmoil was far from the calm she projected outwardly.
Hearing her words, I couldn't help but mentally elevate the danger level of the bugs.
If a person still possessed consciousness but lost all sensation, wouldn't they be a walking dead?
Further thinking, if one couldn't even control their own body and could only watch it move, could such a creature still be called human?
"Is there anything you need me to do?"
The woman in front of me was on the verge of a breakdown and could make an irrational move at any moment. Therefore, I couldn't provoke her further with words. Who knew if she would try to take us all down with her if she felt she couldn't survive?
"You want to help me? It's all your fault that I'm in this state!"
To my surprise, my attempt to help only provoked the madwoman.
Her expression was no longer gentle as before, but turned frenzied, her eyes filled with venom.
"It's all your fault, it's all your fault!"
Her body trembled violently, and with each shake, more bugs emerged from her wounds.
My god! This madwoman is like an incubator for these bugs, otherwise, why are there so many!
I instinctively took two steps back, even suspecting in my heart that the madwoman's body was filled with bugs, leaving only the outer skin.
"Come here, come quickly!"
Suddenly, the madwoman stopped trembling, and her expression returned to a calm, but she felt like a volcano on the verge of eruption, making one wary just looking at her.
She raised her gun with one hand, steadying it at my head.
I had no idea what whim she was having, but facing the dark muzzle, I had no choice but to obediently approach her.
To my surprise, as soon as I stood in front of her, the madwoman suddenly slashed my shirt open with a dagger, a look of madness on her face.
"Hahahahahaha! I'm dying because of these bugs, and you won't have it easy either!"
While tearing my clothes, the madwoman, with a frantic expression, scooped a bug from her wound and tried to place it on me!
She wanted to drag me down with her!
I instinctively retreated a few steps, raising my leg to kick the madwoman overboard, but she preempted me, pressing the gun against me.
"Don't move. The bugs might not kill you, but if you dare to move again, I'll shoot you dead and use the other woman as a test subject!"
Damn it, even in this state, this woman's mind is still so clear?!
I narrowed my eyes, lifting my hands on the surface as if in submission, but in reality, my gaze constantly scanned the woman, searching for an opening.
This was now a fight to the death. If I let this woman place the bug on me, I would be infested and end up in a state worse than death.
I didn't want to be infested by bugs, nor did I want to be shot dead. Therefore, I had to strike first and eliminate her!
I stared unmoving at the woman as she brought the bug towards me.
I was ready. The moment her hand touched me, I would attack and take her down. But just as I was about to act, I noticed a strange detail.
As the bug in the madwoman's hand got closer to my body, she showed not excitement, but resistance, as if something on my person made it afraid.
Huh?
I was puzzled. These bugs were actually afraid of me?
A thought suddenly flashed through my mind, and my tense body relaxed.
And as I had suspected, when the bug was placed on me by the madwoman, it didn't harm me. Instead, it wriggled its fat body and crawled directly away from me, disappearing into the sea.
I looked down at the mark on my chest, a flicker of understanding in my eyes.
As expected, this mark was not simple!
