Chapter 469 Buried Alive

The most important thing now was to dig an escape route for myself.

I lay on the wooden board, desperately using my dagger to scratch at the wood above my head.

After a long time, I finally dug out a hole about the size of a head.

No dirt squeezed in from the outside, which immediately put me at ease.

If the outside was sand, it would have been truly troublesome. With just one opening, the sand would have poured in.

I reached out my hand and frantically shoveled the dirt from the outside inwards, then pressed it down with my hands, piling it all at my feet.

This was a very long and exhausting process.

Fortunately, I had that light green lake water to replenish my energy.

To be honest, I had no idea how much time had passed, but I had finally dug out a pit around the dirt outside the piece of wood above my head.

At the same time, my feet were covered with a thick layer of dirt, which I had stomped down with my feet.

This was a desperate process, with the constant risk of suffocation.

So I didn't dare to stop.

After digging out an arm's length of space outside, I used my hands to push the wooden board above my head with all my might.

But I found it wouldn't budge at all.

With no other option, I continued to use my dagger to carve and scratch at the wooden board.

This was another long process, and finally, I managed to lift off that piece of wood.

At the same time, I shifted my body forward.

At this point, my head and shoulders had already left the confines of the wooden box—or more accurately, the rudimentary coffin.

Then I continued to repeat the previous operation.

I took a look. The dirt here was relatively firm.

So even though I dug out an opening with force, the dirt didn't fall.

This was a very important matter for me.

And so, I continued to dig at the dirt in front of me until my upper body was completely free of the coffin's confines.

Taking advantage of this time, I began to change the angle of my digging, aiming upwards.

As for the dirt I dug up, I followed the same procedure as before: using my hands to push it down, then using my feet to pack it down below.

This way, I always had a space the size of a coffin to move around in.

I dug for a long time. Although the physical fatigue could be resolved by the light green lake water, the mental fatigue was something I couldn't shake off.

"When will this end..." I began to doubt myself.

In such a confined environment, my mental state also became unstable.

But I still forced myself to calm down and continued to dig desperately.

I had no idea how much time had passed, but I faintly heard the sound of waves in my ears.

Hearing this sound, I instantly became excited.

This meant that the hole I had dug was close to the surface.

I sped up, drinking a lot of the light green lake water to replenish my energy and fight off fatigue.

Finally, after drinking half a flask of water, the dirt above my head loosened completely.

I could no longer suppress my excitement and pushed away the dirt above my head with all my might.

A gust of fresh air hit me, carrying a faint salty smell of the sea.

The smell intensified my excitement to an unbearable degree.

Finally, I finally saw the light of day again!

It was still dark outside, and I had no idea where I was.

So, I didn't dare to act rashly.

But at this moment, I noticed something very strange: my eyesight had become exceptionally good.

Even in the darkness of the night, without the moon, I could still see my surroundings clearly.

I walked to the seaside and washed my face. Looking at my tattered clothes, I didn't pay them any mind.

I directly jumped into the sea and had a good bath.

It felt indescribably refreshing.

Lying on the beach, I felt an immense sense of comfort.

"I'm finally alive!" I laughed heartily. Although I wasn't particularly hungry, I decided to get something to eat.

I casually picked up a few branches from the shore and sharpened them with my dagger.

Using my excellent eyesight, I quickly speared several fish by the sea.

I didn't bother with anything else. I simply started a small fire and roasted the fish.

It was a very enjoyable process. The roasted fish didn't taste particularly good, but I had longed for this taste for so long.

This was, in my opinion, the best meal I had in a long time.

After my mood had completely settled, I returned to the place where I had been buried.

Then, I retrieved my bag from within.

After checking my surroundings, I found no valuable clues.

However, judging by the surface dirt, it seemed like a very long time had passed.

To be honest, I still didn't know how long I had been unconscious, nor who had buried me in this place.

But in any case, I had now been reborn!

At this moment, the surroundings began to show the first signs of dawn, and I knew the day was about to break!
