wtf!!!
I shone my flashlight forward, and was instantly stunned by what I saw.
Ahead of us was a huge city hidden in the darkness!
The city was massive, its edges beyond my sight.
Though shrouded in darkness, a light from somewhere above cast a dim glow upon it, preventing it from being completely plunged into blackness.
Damn it, why would such a place exist!
For a moment, I doubted my own eyes. After an unknown period on the deserted island, I was seeing a modern city again!
"Wh... Where is this?!"
I muttered to myself, then looked at Ivys, hoping for a reasonable answer.
"Magnificent, isn't it..."
Ivy's voice was filled with a strange emotion.
"I stumbled upon this place by accident. If it weren't for the constant feeling of being watched from the darkness, I would have thought I was back in the outside world!"
"Out of caution, I didn't explore inside. But now it seems that was a wise decision, otherwise, I wouldn't have met you in the dark."
I gradually recovered from the shock and began to eye Ivy with a hint of suspicion.
I no longer trusted anything he said. It was possible that his mission was to bring me here.
"Let's go, Lu. Perhaps the way out of this hellhole is within this city!"
I didn't immediately respond to Ivy's invitation. Instead, I recalled Ez's diary.
Ez hadn't mentioned anything about a vast city shrouded in darkness in his diary.
Perhaps this bizarre place was too large, and Ez had been killed by a monster before he could encounter it.
After some thought, I decided to explore the hidden city with Ivy.
After all, the lesson I learned from Ez's diary was that staying in the dark brought nothing but death.
Ivy took the lead again, with me following not too far behind.
From a distance, the city had only evoked a sense of awe.
But as we ventured deeper, I felt a suffocating oppression emanating from this strange city.
The city seemed to be devoid of any color except black and white, as if printed from an old photograph from the last century.
At first, I felt a sense of familiarity, seeing tall buildings everywhere. But as we walked longer, I realized the city was composed solely of parks and skyscrapers.
What was most unsettling was that the skyscrapers looked like models, with no discernible entrances.
I tried to hack at the walls of a skyscraper with my hunting knife, but it didn't even leave a scratch. The buildings seemed to be constructed from indestructible materials.
After walking for an unknown period, Ivy and I arrived at a park. Sitting on a bench by the roadside, I was overwhelmed with exhaustion.
This city hidden in the darkness seemed dead. Neither Ivy nor I had found any signs of human or vehicular activity within it.
"Fxxk!"
Ivy slammed his fist onto the bench weakly, then set down the large backpack behind him and took out a small notebook.
"What are you doing?"
A strange feeling arose within me. I didn't know its origin, but as I saw Ivy pick up a pen and prepare to write in the notebook, an inexplicable urge compelled me to ask.
"Isn't it obvious? As a member of the company, it's my duty to record all information about this place, even if I'm likely to die here."
Ivy spoke without looking up, writing on the paper.
Under the dim light, I stealthily glanced at the notebook in his hands.
"Damn it, I've lost track of how many days I've been here. Fortunately, today I met a colleague named Lu. He was also drawn here for some unknown reason. We discovered a massive dark city, but there's nothing inside, and the oppressive atmosphere is terrifying..."
As Ivy wrote his name at the end, the strange feeling in my heart could no longer be suppressed.
"I hope we can get out of here alive, Ez."
Ivy was Ez!
