Chapter 45: THE TRUE ACTING GENIUS
"SUNBAE-NIM, how long are we going to hold hands?"
"You’re not calling me ’noona’ anymore?"
Tsk.
Wonyoung looked at their hands.
Why is this sunbae holding my hand so tight?
Yun Dujun had even entwined their fingers together earlier.
So, now, we actually look like a real couple strolling the beach.
"This feels nice."
Oho?
Sunbae-nim is being dramatic, but I get him.
"Well, I’m sure you don’t get to enjoy your free time like this because of your fame as Actor Yun Dujun," Wonyoung said, looking ahead this time instead of looking at their hands. It looked like Yun Dujun had no intention of letting go of his hand, so he just gave up. "It’s a shame, but I think we need to leave soon. I can tell people are looking at you."
"It makes me sad that you’re in a hurry to go home, Hoobae-nim," Yun Dujun said indifferently. Yeah, he was spouting cheesy stuff with a straight face and a monotonous voice. But the Alpha’s gaze was pretty intense. "It’s been a while since we’ve gone on a date."
"This isn’t a date, Sunbae-nim."
"Hoobae-nim, I know you don’t have much dating experience. But what we’re doing right now is called a date."
"I have no dating experience, but I’m not an idiot. Only couples go on dates."
"And that’s what we are."
"How are we a couple?"
"We’re married, Hoobae-nim."
Haaah.
"Sunbae-nim, arguing with you is like talking to a wall," Wonyoung said while shaking his head. He decided to just change the topic instead of having that silly fight with the Alpha. "Anyway, I’m amazed by your charisma, Sunbae-nim. Even in disguise, you still catch attention. Even your fellow Alphas hit on you. It’s kinda amusing. I heard it’s rare for an Alpha to like another Alpha, just like how it’s rare for an Omega to be attracted to another Omega. But Sunbae-nim is popular even among Alphas."
"Yeah, I’m already used to it."
"Because of Heeju Ahjussi?"
"Why are you suddenly bringing up Lee Heeju?"
"Because Heeju Ahjussi is an Alpha who likes you, Sunbae-nim."
"Lee Heeju doesn’t like me romantically," Yun Dujun said sternly. "I don’t like him that way either."
"If you say so, Sunbae-nim."
Maybe their love story will start once I’m out of the picture, so probably after the divorce.
"Ah, Sunbae-nim. Let’s buy snacks for the kids," Wonyoung said when he saw a food stall that sold hotteok. "Yuhyun said he wanted hotteok. He didn’t like ssiat hotteok that much, so let’s get him the plain one."
"Do you feel comfortable with our son now, Hoobae-nim?"
To be honest, Wonyoung still felt awkward around Yun Yuhyun.
Especially after he saw the memory of him strangling his son.
He didn’t know if it was just his imagination or if it really happened in the past.
I actually wanted to bring An Baekya to the beach to ask him if he knows anything about my relationship with Yun Yuhyun from the ’novel.’
But, alas, the kids suddenly didn’t want to go to the beach.
"Hoobae-nim?"
Oh, right.
Sunbae-nim asked me a question.
"I still feel awkward with Yuhyun, but I’m doing my best to overcome it and get closer to him," Wonyoung admitted, and then he paused for a moment when he remembered something. "By the way, Sunbae-nim. I’ll accept your job offer and be your manager."
"That’s nice. But what made you change your mind?"
"Yuhyun asked me to live with you as a graduation gift."
"Oh."
"I think Yuhyun also wants to get closer to me," Wonyoung said, smiling because the fact that Yun Yuhyun asked him to live together made him quite happy. "So, I’ll try harder, too."
For some reason, Yun Dujun remained silent after that.
Wonyoung didn’t really notice, though.
After all, he was already busy worrying about the kids.
I hope An Baekya and Yun Yuhyun aren’t fighting.

"YOU’RE AN orphan— you don’t belong here," An Baekya said in a mocking tone, acting like a bully— just like what the script was asking for. "And you stink!"
An Baekya’s goal was to own the concept of a child actor with angelic vibes.
The general public prefers celebrities with a pure image, after all.
He was already good at acting innocent, though.
Hence, he thought he should hone his acting skills when portraying antagonists.
But that was just an excuse.
Honestly, An Baekya just took the villain role because he wanted to see how Yun Yuhyun would read the lines of the poor child protagonist.
He’ll just probably half-ass it.
After all, Yun Yuhyun was looking at the script with a bored look on his face.
And that made An Baekya wonder.
Can this punk really read?
"Yah—"
"I-I took a s-shower this m-morning..."
An Baekya felt a chill down his spine.
It was just one line.
One damned line— and yet Yun Yuhyun’s voice was full of emotions.
Humiliation.
Fear.
Suppressed anger.
Yes, An Baekya felt all of it from just one line.
But it didn’t end there.
Yun Yuhyun put down the script that covered half of his face, and then he looked at An Baekya straight in the eye.
Fucking hell.
An Baekya was surprised when he saw fear in Yun Yuhyun’s eyes— as if the kid had lived all his life being bullied.
"I w-washed my hair with s-shampoo and u-used soap for my body..."
Haaah.
An Baekya felt a pang in his chest when he heard the pain in Yun Yuhyun’s voice.
And then...
Yun Yuhyun smiled— a smile that showed desperation, like he was dying to prove to everyone that he wasn’t lying.
"P-Please believe me... I really took a bath... I don’t s-stink..."
And then it happened.
Tears rolled down Yun Yuhyun’s cheeks while he was forcing a smile.
It was a heartbreaking sight.
An Baekya, for a moment, forgot that Yun Yuhyun was only acting.
It felt so real.
Yun Yuhyun had transformed into a bullied, humiliated kid desperate to prove that he didn’t stink.
Which was funny because this brat was raised as a young master from birth.
That was how powerful Yun Yuhyun’s acting was.
"An Baekya, did you forget your lines?"
Huh?
An Baekya was shocked when, all of a sudden, Yun Yuhyun snapped back to his original character— an arrogant, sheltered young master.
That fast?
"Yun Yuhyun, where did you learn how to act?" An Baekya asked curiously. "Is your daddy giving you an acting lesson already?"
"My daddy is busy. Do you think he has time to teach me how to act?"
"Then how...?"
"I just copied what I’ve seen Daddy do on TV," Yun Yuhyun said nonchalantly, tilting his head to one side as if he were confused by An Baekya’s question. "Is acting supposed to be hard? You just have to memorize the lines and follow what the script says, right?" He waved the bundle of papers in his hand. "The script says to smile while crying, so I did."
An Baekya clenched his hands tight while glaring at Yun Yuhyun, annoyed that the brat made acting sound so easy.
Fuck you, you acting genius.
