Chapter 43: LATE NIGHT DATE

Chapter 43: LATE NIGHT DATE

A few moments ago...

AN BAEKYA, sitting on the edge of the bed, crossed his arms over his chest while looking at Yun Yuhyun, who was standing in front of him.

"My daddy is back. Papa told me to wake you up," Yun Yuhyun said, and then he crossed his arms as if to copy An Baekya’s pose. "Get ready. Papa said they’ll bring us to the beach."

Yeah, An Baekya knew about that plan.

However...

Isn’t this the perfect opportunity to send Uncle Wonyoung and Yun Dujun-ssi on a date?

An Baekya had a long list of things he needed and wanted to do to turn his life around this time, but fixing Bae Wonyoung and Yun Dujun’s marriage was at the top of the list.

Only them could stop Yun Yuhyun from growing up a psycho Alpha, after all.

"W-Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I want to practice reading lines," Yun Yuhyun said. He wouldn’t be a part of Park Chanho Theatre Troupe’s upcoming play, but he still asked for a copy of the script to practice. Thankfully, the director— Park Chanho himself— happily obliged. "Can you help me, Yuhyun-ah?"

Yun Yuhyun scoffed. "Why would I help you?"

Haaah.

This brat is acting like the brat that he is.

Thankfully, An Baekya just knew how to handle Yun Yuhyun.

"Ah, you probably don’t know how to read yet since you’re still a baby," An Baekya said in a voice full of fake sympathy. Of course, he was doing it on purpose to hurt YunYuhyun’s pride. "It’s okay, Yuhyun-ah. Most kids our age can’t read yet. But that’s what school is for, right? You’ll eventually learn how to read once you start elementary school."

As expected, Yun Yuhyun’s face turned red from anger and embarrassment (probably). "I can already read!"

"It’s okay, Yuhyun-ah. No need to lie. I’m an early reader, so I’m a bit special. You don’t have to compare yourself with me. It’s totally okay to learn how to read at your own pace—"

"I. Can. Read."

Pfft.

Yun Yuhyun didn’t raise his voice, but he emphasized each word in an annoyed tone.

How easy.

"You want to practice lines with me? Fine, let’s do it," Yun Yuhyun said through gritted teeth. "If you mispronounce one word, I’ll laugh at you."

An Baekya shrugged. "But if you help me practice my lines, you won’t be able to join Appa and Abeoji on their beach date."

"I don’t care."

"Really? But you’re a daddy’s boy..."

"I’d rather prove to you that I can read than go to the beach with Daddy and Papa," Yun Yuhyun said, almost not breathing because he talked a little too fast. "Where’s the script? Let’s start."

An Baekya smiled triumphantly. "Let’s tell Appa and Abeoji first that we’re not going with them."

***

"AND that’s what happened, Appa, Abeoji. I want to practice reading, and Yuhyun will help me with my lines. So, we’re staying here instead of going out."

Oh.

Wonyoung was still pretty confused, though.

Is it really okay to leave An Baekya and Yun Yuhyun together, with just the two of them?

"If that’s what you want, then we’ll respect it," Yun Dujun said, deciding on his own again. "I’ll call Han Myung and ask him to babysit you."

Wonyoung turned to Yun Dujun. "We can just not go to the beach, Sunbae-nim."

"Hoobae-nim, if we don’t go to the beach, then what did I put on this get-up for?"

"We can just take your pictures, then?"

"Bae Wonyoung."

Wonyoung just cleared his throat while avoiding Yun Dujun’s scolding gaze.

At times like this, I feel our age gap.

"Have fun, Appa, Abeoji," An Baekya said, smiling. "Just please bring back yummy food for us."

"I want hotteok, Papa, Daddy," Yun Yuhyun said, already waving as if he were dismissing Wonyoung and Yun Dujun already. "Bye-bye."

Aigoo.

Wonyoung had no choice but to go on a ’date’ with Yun Dujun without the kids, and that made him nervous for some reason.

Is this really okay?

***

THIS IS totally okay.

Wonyoung felt silly that he almost didn’t go to Haeundae Beach just because An Baekya and Yun Yuhyun had decided not to go with them.

To be honest, it wasn’t the beach that made him feel excited.

It was the sight of Haeundae Pojangmacha-chon.

It’s a small area of seafood stalls in bright orange tents, right on Haeundae Beach.

Soju.

Beer.

Makgeolli.

I want to drink.

Plus, Wonyoung could see the ahjummas in those tents cooking delicious-looking stews and other fish dishes.

They smell good, too.

"Hoobae-nim, should we drink?"

"Should we?" Wonyoung asked, his eyes probably sparkling. Actually, his voice sounded excited even to his own ears. He couldn’t help it, though. It had been a while since he had a drink. "Since the kids aren’t with us, we can drink. Let’s also have stew..."

He trailed off when he realized that the people around them were looking at Yun Dujun.

Wonyoung got nervous that the Alpha’s disguise might have already been busted.

Dujun Sunbae-nim is wearing a mask, but he still stands out despite his long wig and feminine outfit.

It was understandable, though.

Sunbae-nim is really pretty in his cross-dress, after all.

"Let’s hurry, Sunbae-nim..."

Wonyoung trailed off again when, this time, two tall men blocked their way.

They’re a bit taller than me, but still shorter than Sunbae-nim, of course.

Anyway, he almost scrunched his nose when the two men’s pheromones hit his nose.

Alphas.

Moreover, the two men also reeked of alcohol.

They’re obviously drunk.

"Excuse me. We can’t help but notice you. Can we get your number?"

No, the drunkards weren’t talking to Wonyoung.

These Alphas are actually hitting on Dujun Sunbae-nim!

Pfft.

Wonyoung thought it was interesting.

"No, I don’t want to give you my number."

Aigoo.

Of course, Yun Dujun rejected the men coldly.

Wonyoung thought the encounter was over.

So, he was shocked when the two men suddenly grabbed each of Yun Dujun’s arms aggressively.

Have these Alphas lost their damn minds?!
