Chapter 87: Luminous Nemewolf
The newcomer stood tall in a charcoal suit, the night breeze barely stirring his neatly combed hair. His eyes, cold and unreadable, shifted first to the bloodied young man sprawled on the ground.
"Still breathing," he murmured, his voice as smooth as glass.
Only then did his gaze slide toward the assassin.
The attacker’s eyes went wide behind the clown mask. He fought to turn his head, feeling his entire body so heavy under the pressure that it took everything to even turn his head. "Wh... who... are... you?" he rasped in the end.
The suited man’s tone stayed even in response, almost bored as he sounded. "Who sent you? Was it the Northern Sky Group?"
A painful shake of the assassin’s head came in response. "N... no... Xiao... Estate..." The words came out broken; each syllable seemed forced.
The man tilted his head slightly. "Hmm. I see."
He raised one hand. Darkness coiled at his palm, gathering into a tight, spiraling sphere as black as the void with its edges rimmed in a faint glow, resembling a black hole with an asterisk disc.
Before the assassin could gasp another word, the sphere shot forward with a soundless snap.
It struck his chest dead-center.
And then, his entire figure was sucked into this micro black hole launched by the mysterious stranger, leaving behind nothing.
Dismissing it, the suited man shifted Lin Fang onto his shoulder with effortless strength. As he turned to leave, a low growl rolled across the empty harbor.
As if by sheer coincidence, from the mist beyond the pier, a black wolf padded forward with lightning sparks dancing all over its body and reached them. The rider slid down in one fluid motion, landing silently.
Leng Xuenyi straightened her cloak, then stepped toward the man.
He paused, meeting her approach.
When they stood a few feet apart, Xuenyi bowed low, cupping her fists. "The Fourth Knight greets the Grand Knight."
The man inclined his head, giving a faint, approving nod. "You are late. Had I not intervened in time, the young master would already be dead."
Xuenyi lowered her gaze. "Forgive me. The young master had a flying mount... it was too fast. Tracking him took longer than expected."
The Grand Knight’s eyes shifted toward the mangled corpse of the giant wolf. His brow arched slightly. "That thing is strong?"
Xuenyi’s voice softened. "The young master has more than one of them. To be exact, he somehow managed to contract with five of them. One of them is a Commander Tier flying mount, which was almost as fast as my Fenrir."
A flicker of curiosity crossed the Grand Knight’s otherwise impassive face. Studying Lin Fang’s pale, unconscious features for a few seconds, he said. "We believed Northern Sky to be the only threat. It seems there are others who wish him dead. In this state... it is time you take an active role. I will give you three days. By the fourth day, I want Xiao Estate to disappear from Huaxi City."
Xuenyi’s eyes widened at the weight of his words. "Xiao Estate? Wiping them is easy, but they are related to the Jiang Family, which controls the Orion Group. Are you sure?"
The man stared into her eyes silently for a moment and said. "Do you see me flinch?"
Without hesitation, she dropped to one knee. "Understood, Sir."
Carefully, he transferred Lin Fang into her arms.
The suited man gave a single, silent nod—then blurred into the night like a shadow swallowed by the dark.
Xuenyi gazed down at Lin Fang’s bloodless face and let out a long, steady breath. "Why... Sigh... Why do you have to embark on this path and make my life difficult?" Her face then turned serious. "Anyway... since this has already happened, I will make sure you will be ready for any danger you face next time."
The next day;
The morning light seeped through the curtains of the private hospital ward, casting a pale glow across the white sheets.
Zhi Yan was seen sitting slouched in a chair beside the bed, her head tilted slightly with strands of hair falling over her face as she dozed.
A faint rustle broke the quiet in the room.
As Lin Fang stirred, eyelids fluttering open, Zhi Yan snapped awake instantly, "Fang-Ge... are you alright?"
His gaze, however, was fixed ahead, unfocused—not on her, but on the translucent system screen hovering before him. Lines of unread notifications and details scrolled across it.

Lin Fang exhaled, letting out a deep sigh. "So, Black was really gone, and so was the prospect of selling any nemesis egg in the future. But in the end, I still gained another mythic grade from misfortune." His hands clenched into tight fists in the next second, remembering Black’s death and his defeat. "I’m still too weak even after training for weeks..."
The crushing weight from last night loosened slightly, but his mind flashed back to the fight—the scream, the blinding slash. His expression darkened in frustration.
"Fang-Ge... Fang-Ge?"
Zhi Yan’s voice broke through his thoughts. He blinked and turned toward her, "Ah—yes."
"Are you alright?"
He gave a faint nod and ask, "how long i was out for?"
"2 days." She said before leaning closer, her eyes searching his face. "What happened yesterday, actually?"
Lin Fang rubbed the side of his neck, his voice turned low and edged with lingering fury. "Someone used Li Liu’s voice to lure me out. I went to save her without thinking... but in the end, it turned out to be a trap... I almost died... Hmm..." Suddenly, something clicked in his head, and he looked into her eyes in wonder. "Do you know who saved me and brought me here?" He asked.
Zhi Yan shook her head. "No idea. Maybe someone saw you at the harbor and called an ambulance."
Lin Fang let out a slow breath at that response...
As he pushed himself upright with a quiet groan, Zhi Yan’s brows knit. "I think... the ones behind this might be Immortal Pet World. Ever since our store opened, their customers have been dwindling. They might have targeted you because of it. Don’t worry, I have already complained to the police. They will investigate and get to the bottom of this matter."
Lin Fang gave a small shake of his head. "Forget about them. I don’t want any further trouble," he said quietly.
Zhi Yan frowned. However, she could only stay silent on the matter.
Lin Fang then faked out a smile, lifting a hand to gently pat her arm. "I’m good now. Go home and rest a bit."
"But..."
"It’s fine," he said again, his voice firm yet warm.
Zhi Yan hesitated, worry still etched across her face, but finally stood, understanding that he probably needed some alone time. "Alright... but call me if you need anything. And don’t forget that I will always be here to listen to you."
"I will."
She gave him one last searching glance before walking out of the private ward.
The moment the door clicked shut, the faint smile on Lin Fang’s face vanished. His expression hardened, eyes narrowing as fragments of last night’s chaos replayed in his mind.
"Those voices... I recognize one of those two voices..."
He closed his eyes, listening again to the memory. Two figures speaking when he’d hovered on the edge of unconsciousness.
One of them, a feminine voice speaking words, entered his head. "Leng Xuenyi..." he muttered with a deep frown. "Who is that man with you... And what young master you both were talking about..."
It was vague, but he clearly remembered a few words, like young master, Xiao Estate, Northern Sky Group, Jiang Family, Grand Knight...
He couldn’t help but wonder what those were.
