Chapter 89: What happened to Zero Guild?
Lin Fang looked at her. He didn’t even hesitate for a second to respond. His hands shot forward to her, wrapping around her and pulling her into him.
"Ah"
She squealed in surprise for a second, but then smiled as she lay directly on top of Lin Fang, who hugged her with a wide smile on his face. "I will do whatever you ask."
She raised her head a little bit and gave another kiss to him. "Thank you."
With his romantic life with Li Liu having started at last, Lin Fang no longer had depressing thoughts. All of those frustrated feelings disappeared in an instant, and he had nothing but a smile for the whole day.
As an official girlfriend for the world, Li Xue should have come to visit him, but for some weird reason, she didn’t. She didn’t even make a call to him all day. Not that he was looking forward to it, but still expected a call from his master, Li Chengfeng, but even more strangely, he didn’t call.
In the evening, Lin Fang took the initiative to call his master, but it went straight to voicemail instead. As a second thought, he then called Li Xue, but strangely, it was also sent to voicemail.
A day passed. Neither Li Xue nor Li Chengfeng called back.
Another day later, Lin Fang was discharged from the hospital. Hao Bin picked him up as Zhi Yan and Li Liu were a bit busy at the store.
On the way home, he pulled open the system’s character interface, checking the business. As he had left more than 120 direwolf eggs in the inventory, he only hoped that they weren’t sold at any discounted prices, just for the sake of making sales. After all, they weren’t exactly bought from the system. He just chose the second option of becoming an intermediary to sell them at 80k credits per egg, set by the system. If he makes a discount, not only will he not get any discount, but the system will charge him the discounted price too. The second worry was that there was still an advanced order of 50 Jade Spirit Tonics that he hadn’t delivered. He should have delivered them on Sunday, but now, it is Tuesday already. If that order was canceled, he would lose 14 million credits of possible profits, and the store’s fame would suffer for incompetence.
But when he opened, what he saw was entirely something else.
Store Earnings (Total): 59.7 million credits (62.72 million credits: Status Pending)
Items to deliver: 224 Jade Spirit Tonics
"Say, what..."
Lin Fang immediately took out his smartphone to check messages. When he did, a string of deposits was seen in the company’s bank account with overall worth around 31.36 million, the 50% advanced payment, the highest being 14.4 million credits, which was surprisingly ordered by Hello Pet World, a store that was associated with Shang Wei and the one who sold Direwolf like hot cake at premium prices and made it viral in the capital city.
"So, in four days I was out, the store made 11 million credit business, and further got an advanced order worth almost 63 million? Wow... It seemed like Jade Spirit Tonic was the clear king of my store. If only I could buy it for 1000 coins in the store, I could have made more than 50 million profits just based on this order. Ugh... this feels bittersweet. Anyways, let’s not dwell on the things that I have no control over. Let’s just focus on clearing the system’s debt. I have over 16.7 million credits combined in both accounts at the moment. All I need is another 15 million. Hmm... Nah, that’s not right. Even after clearing the debt, I would still need 224,000 coins on top to buy them. What if I use the advanced amount I received in my bank account and exchange it for coins? Even then, I wouldn’t have enough funds. How about putting a hold on half of those orders and just delivering the remaining half? Then the amount I get from them can be used to convert coins again to buy for other orders..."
His eyes lit up at the thought of using the loophole to use the funds to get the advanced orders to clear up the debt instead.
With that thought in his mind, Lin Fang sprang into action right away, as he didn’t have much to do anyway other than sit around. He opened the system panel and went to Exchange, further clicking on Store Earnings.
When he did, he found...
[14.4 million credits are available for exchange. Please write the number of credits to exchange into store coins.]
"Wait a second... What about that 31 million?" Lin Fang couldn’t help but furrow his brows in thought. As something clicked in his mind, he closed down and then clicked on the Other Earnings. In that tab, more than 32 million was displayed.
It was then that Lin Fang realized that he couldn’t use the loophole as he had thought. Since the sale hasn’t been made, it couldn’t be considered as store earnings, after all. If he uses that money to convert, he would only get 160,000 coins at best. That means he had to use everything he got, just to clear off the debt.
As a result, he put away that idea and instead decided on earning coins through dungeons or rifts instead. However, to get into either of them, he needed Zero Guild’s support, unless he attained the Hunter License.
The vehicle was about to take the intersection, but before it took the left, Lin Fang suddenly grabbed the steering wheel, stopping him from taking a turn. "What the... Brother Lin, what are you doing?" Hao Bin’s eyes widened at the sudden actions of his flatmate. The latter apologized, "Sorry, but please go straight. I want to stop by the guild."
"Ah, Is that so?" Hao Bin once and then twice. He looked like he wanted to say something, but in the end, he nodded and hit the accelerator.
An hour later, they reached Sector 14, eventually making their way to Zero Guild.
But when they got there, the run-down guild didn’t exist there anymore. Instead, all that was left were the ruins. It looked as if the entire guild was destroyed in an attack. And not just the Zero guild, the entire street was reduced to rubble.
"What happened here?" He got down, staring at the scene.
Looking around, Hao Bin commented. "Did you remember the correct way? There’s nothing here."
Lin Fang nodded as he walked forward with heavy steps, reaching down for a fallen board on the side. It wrote zero on top of it. "Yes, this is the place."
"Should I ask around what happened?" As Hao Bin asked, Lin Fang gave a simple nod. However, his gaze was on the leftover building.
"Brother Hao, let me stay here for a while. I’ll come home later." He said in a heavy voice. Hao Bin stared at him for a while before walking away. Soon, the vehicle left, and Lin Fang opened the pet inventory, clicking on one of the images.
"Xuan Hei."
A baby wolf pup jumped out of the inventory and landed on the ground. Wagging its tail like a dog, it walked to him and rubbed its face against his leg. Lin Fang couldn’t help but smile, picking it up. "Xuan Hei... I need your help with something. Can you go through this rubble and find a metallic door?"
*Woof*
It rushed through the walls, which were disintegrated into nothing with every touch of its paw. In no time, an empty path was created before him, which went straight to a staircase that seemed to be reaching underground.
Lin Fang didn’t even need to see the door to understand where it led.
As he walked down the stairs, he reached a familiar-looking basement where a familiar door was seen. Xuan Hei stood before the door, looking back at Lin Fang as he climbed down the stairs.
Patting its head with a smile, Lin Fang then pulled the door handle, walking inside.
After a while, Lin Fang and Xuan Hei were seen standing at the platform where a creature was waiting for them.
"The Summoner." It spoke, staring at him with deep eyes. "It looked like you could be redeemed, after all."
Lin Fang stared back at it seriously, "It’s been a while, Alpha."
