Chapter 90: A Righteous Siege

The moment Morgott's voice fell, Bai Shi drew his twin swords, ready to charge.

But someone was faster than Bai Shi.

Having judged Morgott's landing spot, Nepheli immediately began to charge him.

However, she had been standing rather far back, so she only reached him after he had finished speaking.

Nepheli leaped into the air, bringing her twin axes down on Morgott with the force to split a mountain.

But Morgott simply raised his staff with a single arm and firmly blocked the attack.

At the same time, Morgott's other hand was not idle.

He conjured a phantom golden dagger, blocking a Tarnished who was attempting a sneak attack.

Morgott exerted strength in both arms, shoving Nepheli and the other Tarnished aside.

By now, Bai Shi had ridden the storm and charged right up to Morgott.

Bai Shi swept his twin swords horizontally, but Morgott leaped back, receiving only a slight scratch.

Not only that, but Morgott also threw the dagger in his hand at Bai Shi.

The dagger split into three mid-air, but Bai Shi blocked them with the storm.

The next second, a pair of large feet kicked toward Bai Shi.

It turned out that after leaping back, Morgott had immediately used his tail to support his body and launched a two-footed kick at Bai Shi.

Unflustered, Bai Shi swung his twin swords toward the soles of Morgott's feet.

Metal against flesh—the advantage was his.

But Morgott spread his feet apart, unexpectedly clamping Bai Shi's twin swords between them.

Morgott flexed his core, swinging Bai Shi's swords—and Bai Shi along with them—up into the sky.

Bai Shi felt an immense force tear him from the ground and hurl him into the air.

He was sent flying, but fortunately, he used the storm to quickly stabilize his body and adjust his landing point.

The path from the passage to Stormveil was a lone bridge.

On both sides were bottomless abysses; a fall meant certain death.

If it had been any other Tarnished who was thrown—one who couldn't adjust their position mid-air—they would probably be screaming "ROBERRRRT!" as they disappeared into the abyss by now.

Morgott was somewhat surprised to see that Bai Shi had managed to adjust his position in the air and avoid falling off the cliff.

So Morgott immediately moved to pursue him.

But the others were no slouches.

Taking advantage of the brief exchange between Bai Shi and Morgott, the other six had already surrounded the Omen King.

Morgott was forced to abandon his pursuit of the airborne Bai Shi, as Erlisa's curved blade was already upon him.

Before the blade even struck, Morgott could already feel the bone-chilling cold emanating from it.

At the same time, the other Tarnished attacked from all directions.

Even the space above his head was locked down by Rogier's magic, making it impossible for him to jump and evade.

But Morgott was unconcerned. His left hand conjured a phantom great hammer, blocking Erlisa's blow.

He was struck by two or three Tarnished, but thanks to the protection of his thick, shaggy hide, he didn't suffer any serious injuries.

Morgott then began to spin on the spot, his staff, hammer, and tail whipping around to form an impenetrable defense.

The Tarnished's offensive was instantly repelled.

Though they kept trying to attack, their efforts had little effect.

On the contrary, one heavily armored Tarnished, a fraction of a second too slow to dodge, was sent flying by Morgott's great hammer.

That Tarnished now lay to the side with his chest plate caved in, his life or death unknown.

Nepheli took aim at Morgott's feet and threw an axe.

She was making a huge gamble.

If she could injure his foot while he was spinning, there was a high chance he would lose his balance.

But if she failed, she would lose one of her axes.

Unfortunately, Nepheli's gamble failed. Even while spinning, Morgott keenly spotted her attack.

He dodged just enough for the axe to miss, sending it spinning off the cliff.

However, Erlisa seized the opportunity created by Morgott's dodge.

Erlisa stomped her left foot, and in an instant, a large patch of ice spikes formed beneath her.

In a flash, it spread to Morgott's feet.

Normally, even while spinning, Morgott could have used a great leap to escape.

But Erlisa's timing was perfect, unleashed the very instant he dodged the flying axe.

Seeing that it was too late to dodge, Morgott let his phantom hammer dissipate, stopped his spin, and stomped one foot onto the ice spikes.

Since he couldn't dodge, he had to at least ensure one foot was unharmed, or he would be at a complete disadvantage.

Morgott's left foot stomped onto the ice, which instantly pierced his sole, staining it red with blood.

As blood was drawn, the ice spikes on the ground exploded, dealing a second wave of damage to Morgott's foot and leaving the ground coated in frost.

Morgott staggered for two steps before he finally managed to steady himself.

The wound on his foot and the frost on the ground almost made him fall.

Just then, a Tarnished swung a great hammer from behind Morgott, smashing it into his waist.

With his feet already injured, this blow almost knocked him down.

Attacks from the other Tarnished followed close behind, about to land on Morgott.

Bai Shi had also re-entered the battlefield, attacking Morgott from the front.

With such a dense barrage, even with Morgott's tough hide, he was bound to be severely injured.

Seeing the Tarnished closing in again, Morgott revealed a victorious expression.

Only Bai Shi, who was facing Morgott directly, saw it.

"Don't get close!"

Bai Shi shouted a warning while trying to take out the fragment of Morgott's Shackle, but it was too late.

Morgott summoned a phantom straight sword in his left hand and stabbed it into the ground.

Instantly, countless phantom straight swords appeared high in the air above them.

The golden radiance brought the Tarnished nothing but deadly killing intent.

The Tarnished realized something was wrong and quickly fell back.

But they had pushed their attack too far just moments ago.

The phantom swords rained down, and from their current positions, the Tarnished had no way to escape.

"To die by this move is an honor you should be proud of."

"You can't kill them, because I'm here."

Bai Shi summoned a storm, a raging gale that enveloped everyone, including Morgott.

The rain of swords fell, only to be ground away bit by bit by the storm.

Bai Shi frowned; the mana consumption was too great.

At this rate, once his mana was depleted, the sword rain would still kill the remaining few Tarnished.

A flash of inspiration struck Bai Shi. He didn't need to waste energy destroying the sword rain at all.

Bai Shi controlled the storm's flow, not to grind away the sword rain, but to slightly alter its direction.

The golden sword rain was swept into the storm, swirling with the gale.

For a moment, it looked as if every sword in the world was bowing to a single master.

Bai Shi felt the drain on his mana decrease significantly and breathed a sigh of relief.

"See? You can't kill them."
