Chapter 47: Utility Room

Chapter 47: Utility Room

There were so many things happening and he was always tired that he never really had the time to go back and reread some things.

Finn blinked and headed to his [Build] interface, rereading the functions of the room.

[Utility Room]

[Information: Room providing laundry services, cleaning services, replacement linen, bed covers, and so on. Also includes a basic tool set for manual repairs, landscaping tools, and so on. Must be attached to a building. Adds Cleanliness Stat +3. Services require utility activation to function.

Size: 2 meters x 1 meters

Cost: 50 Gold, 50 Hearth Points]

It really fits its name, more than those of earth.

"The utility room can automatically clean clothes placed there. There are also changes of sheets and covers there, including bath robes and towels. The bedsheets are filthy. They’re system fabric and normal washing methods won’t work on them, la."

Finn nodded. It was really convenient. Plus, those repair tools and the like could also be useful for maintenance.

What would have to be repaired, anyway? He was fairly sure that, despite the modern-medieval aesthetic, it was actually quite advanced, and the materials here were far superior to those on Earth. He really wondered what he’d use those toolkits for.

In the end, he bought the room despite the cost. Of course, he asked Pang if it would bother Syl, he said he could block the bathroom from experiencing the power surges. He waved that chubby paw around and clicked on a panel he could not see.

He nodded and only then did Finn build the new room.

[Purchased! Utility Room! -50 gold, -50 Hearth Points]

He watched as a new door appeared right next to the bathroom, with the room name beside the jamb. Utility Room, it said, and it seemed like it would only be accessible to him, Pang, and whoever he decided to hire as staff.

He entered the room and felt that it was bigger than 2 square meters, as was described. It felt at least twice the size, in fact.

He was certain of it because there were a lot of things in here and the 1-meter width indicated was just the walkways. On one side, the tools and other things were hung in a straightforward and organized manner.

The other side, on the other hand, was filled with boxes with circular doors. He realized they were kind of like washing machines, except the body was wood instead of metal or plastic, and the glass was made of thin crystal shells.

Curiously, he threw on his earth clothes and the handkerchief.

[More than one article detected. Please remove one (1).]

He blinked, removing the shirt. He needed to wear it first, anyway.

[Detected! Unranked Fabric. Full Cleansing Time: 1 Hour. Proceed? Yes | No]

[Note: Each Washing Tool cannot be used while a process is ongoing. Only one item per wash. Recharge time for each is 5 hours.]

It seemed like a single article of clothing, even a small one, must occupy a ’washing machine’. The minimum time was 1 hour, too, so even the face towel required that amount of time.

There were also cabinets at the end of the room. It contained 3 sets of sheets, pillow covers, towels, and bathrobes. So this was the change of fabric for each room.

That said, it was time to change his bed sheets! They were dirty because he had used them before he even had water.

Finn took the soiled sheets and placed them back in the Utility Room. He placed his stuff in a machine each, and thus all six ’washing machines’ were occupied.

He wondered if they’d be ironed when they got out...

Anyway, he was satisfied with this purchase. Some might call it a luxury, but who’d be comfortable fighting when the body was sticky? There were also few worse sensations than bathing well and just wearing soiled clothes!

As he left the room, he also peeked at his stats, to see how much he had left to spend.

He ought to start watching his purchases from this point forward.

The condition part also reminded him to eat and drink, heading straight to the kitchen. He used a lot of Purplestep for the saltiness and ivana vine for the brightness to make it tastier.

While he did so, he took a look at the dashboard.

Active Functions: None]

He was still ways to go before getting enough stats to buy the functions he wanted, but progress was progress. He made his first paying customer after all!

That said, he was really looking forward to the cheat-like functions [Comfortable Blessing], [Increased Absorption], and [Rested Soul Bonus].

If the current healing capability of the Inn already helped the adventurers gain so many cores, imagine if those effects were further improved?

As for the others, he looked at the barrier health. It looked high, but he would never forget how quickly it dwindled when toughened-level monsters appeared.

It felt eerie that a few attacks from two high-level monsters could reduce the barrier’s life.

The hoovensore was much larger than the brindlejaws, and much stronger, too. If a brindlejaw could bite its ’dormant’ head off with a bite or two, a hoovesore could kill him just by pressing down one of its hooves on his face.

Still, he wasn’t intimidated for long—because he’d soon cook the very thing he was afraid of!
